We are currently looking to fill the position of Meter Reader (6 month term).Accountabilities: As a member of the Meter Services Team, you will be responsible to read meters in various areas, obtain meter check readings and meter reads associated with customer service orders as required, and identify and report suspected power diversion. You are accountable to communicate with customers in a friendly, professional manner and be able to accurately complete all work assigned in a timely and efficient manner. You may be required to fill in for work associated with Meter Reading II if you have all applicable training. You will be required to participate in regulatory training and be willing to participate in on-the-job training or training programs that support the development of additional skills. To meet customer demand, you will be required to work between 8:00am and 8:00pm (Monday to Friday) for an average of 40 hours per week.You may be temporarily assigned to other locations to assist other areas when required and will be expected to travel throughout the province.You will be responsible for your personal safety and that of co-workers, by observing and ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations. You will be accountable for environmental performance as it relates to the Environmental Management System processes and initiatives.This position is considered a safety sensitive position. As such, the successful candidate must comply with the Emera Alcohol and Drug Policy which requires a confidential pre-employment alcohol and drug test in accordance with the Emera Alcohol and Drug Procedure.Skills, Capabilities and Experience: A Grade XII education or equivalent is required. You must hold a valid Nova Scotia Driver’s License with a minimum of 2 years driving experience and provide a driver’s abstract satisfactory to NSPI. You will be able to work with minimum supervision, display excellent knowledge of company rules and regulations, demonstrate excellent customer service skills, and work in a safe and efficient manner.
