SRCE-21-667, Financial Services, Accounts Payable OfficerThe Strait Regional (0052) invites applications from qualified candidates for the posted vacancy. As part of the public education system in Nova Scotia, the Strait Regional Centre for Education (SRCE) was established on April 1, 2018, to deliver the public school program focusing on supporting student learning, achievement, well-being and overall success. The Strait Regional Centre for Education, with the support of approximately 1,000 employees, works diligently to achieve its mission “to empower our children and youth, within safe, equitable and inclusive environments to embrace a changing world as responsible, contributing and successful lifelong learners.” In 2019-2020, the SRCE operates 20 schools with approximately 5,952 students; and approximately 321 children are attending pre-primary programs at 14 school locations. Located in the northeastern part of Nova Scotia, the Strait Regional Centre for Education’s jurisdiction encompasses the counties of Antigonish, Guysborough, Inverness and Richmond, an area of approximately 11,000 square kilometres with a population of 53,125 (Census 2016).Work Schedule: 7.5 hours per dayDeadline for Applications: 10/28/2021, at 11:59 pm.Effective Dates: 11/01/2021Accounts Payable OfficerResponsibilities:To process invoices and match up with purchase orders and to liaise with schools, vendors and Operations Department for verification prior to issuing of payment;To liaise with the Manager of Purchasing regarding purchase orders and approval for payments;To liaise with vendors regarding account discrepancies;To ensure that vendor information is updated as required;To ensure that invoices are accurate and processed by due date;To ensure invoices for utilities are checked for accuracy and major variances investigated;To ensure payroll deductions such as CPP, EI, Income Tax, Pension, Medical, WCB, etc., are balanced with general ledger and paid by due date;To compile necessary information for semi-application of provincial fuel tax rebate on gas and diesel;To process cheques for all travel claims;To make duplicates of invoices for various refund claims;To ensure A/P files are set up each year and properly secure previous year files for transport to the document storage site;To perform other duties as may be assigned by the Director of Financial Services from time to time.Essential Qualifications:
