Job Description

Tired of fighting traffic in the GTA Want to make a difference for the Environment Come be a part of Canada #39;s premier Science and Technology organization, Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL), as the Historic Waste Program Management Office (HWP MO) in Port, Hope Ontario implements Canada #39;s largest low-level radioactive waste (LLRW) environmental remediation project.THE POSITIONThe Project Coordinator, Waterfront, is accountable for the delivery of large-scale remediation and restoration projects, characterized as multi-year in duration, often involving substantial safety and regulatory requirements with many internal and external interactions, contracts requiring substantial negotiation of terms and conditions, having many work packages, resources, and interfaces to manage, and involving a significant financial commitment (more than $50 million)The PHAI is a federal initiative to clean-up low-level radioactive waste in Port Hope and Clarington. The project involves remediating contaminated sites and consolidating the wastes in an engineered mound in the community. The PHAI Project has a very high public profile and is a top priority for the Government of Canada and the Port Hope area communities.WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:Project Delivery

  • Plan, organize and control the integration of all work areas and disciplines within the project effectively.
  • Ensure all designs and work plans incorporate safety, quality, health, and the environment.
  • Managing change in scope, schedule, costs, and impact to stakeholders against the project baseline
  • Identify project risks and barriers and the development of mitigation strategies.
  • Report and regularly interface with the management regarding project status updates and expectations.
Team Work
  • Works well in a team of CNL staff, consultants and contractors in the remediation of the LLRW on the site(s)
  • Promotes a positive, inclusive, work environment.
  • Accountable to deliver quality results on time and on budget
  • Ensuring all team members use applicable safety equipment and adhere to safe work policies/practices, radiation protection policies/practices and any other CNL safety requirements as mandated by the organization.
Stakeholder Management
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with direct communication, ethics, and integrity
  • Frequently collaborate with the Communicationsamp; Stakeholder Relations team, providing and receiving input, participating in public relations events if needed.
Regulatory
  • Functional knowledge of federal and provincial regulatory requirements related to nuclear, civil works or remediation.
  • Understands and implements substantial safety and licensing requirements with many internal and external regulatory interactions,
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
  • A degree or diploma from a college/university relevant to project management, engineering, environmental science and a track record for leading large projects from definition, budgeting, design, through to construction; OR
  • Bachelor #39;s degree with 3+ years progressively responsible project experience, preferably related to large construction and/or remediation project; OR
  • 6+ years with no formal post-secondary progressively responsible project experience, preferably related to large construction and/or remediation projects.
  • Security clearance eligibility required: Reliability Status - which has a minimum requirement of 3 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariatquot;Standard on Security Screening quot; and thequot;Policy on Government Security quot;.
Abilities and Skills:
  • Detail oriented with excellent note taking
  • Knowledge of engineering procedures and practices, organization and quality processes.
  • Good understanding of compliance program requirements.
  • Knowledge in contract management.
