Job Description

The Wastewater Summer Student will assist employees with duties involving physical labour such as, but not limited to, cutting of grass, weed eating, cutting and trimming trees, preparing the ground and seeding grass, debris and garbage pickup, loading and unloading vehicles, digging/shoveling, raking, moving materials and related activities.Assist employees with duties involving physical labour related to operation and maintenance of Public Works assets such as, but not limited to, Wastewater Treatment Plant, Pumping Stations and Collection System infrastructure. Wastewater Treatment and Pump Station operation and maintenance duties relate to, but not limited to, assisting with facility checks, recording readings, lab sampling and testing, cleaning tanks, painting, and maintenance of equipment.Wastewater collection system operation and maintenance duties relate to, but not limited to, assisting with repair and maintenance of sewer laterals, mains, and manholes. Related activities include HydroVac truck operation, service locating, inspections, pipe repair and replacement.(Duties performed must be those which can be completed by a non-licensed wastewater operator unless student holds a wastewater license level OIT or greater). Compensation and Work Term$16.55 per hourMay to August, 40 hours per weekQualifications
  • Valid and satisfactory G or G2 Ontario drivers licence is preferred.
  • Ability to perform physical labour outdoors for long periods of time.
  • Heavy lifting, pushing, pulling, moving of objects up to and above 20 kg.
