This position will integrate into a well-developed team of environmental scientists, planners, and engineers to provide support on various infrastructure and development projects across a range of sectors, including mining, transport (road/rail), water/wastewater utilities, energy, and oil and gas. We are looking for an environmental candidate to assist with timely delivery of high-quality environmental assessments including data analysis, regulatory permitting submissions, public and stakeholder engagement, technical writing, and presentations. We are seeking highly motivated and accountable candidate that works collaboratively with other team members and are effective communicators. Organizational skills and an ability to work well on multi-disciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment are essential qualities. This is a permanent full time position reporting to the Impact Assessmentamp; Permitting Lead in Winnipeg.As part of our team, the successful applicant will assist in environmental work and deliverables throughout a project life cycle, including:

  • Working with and supporting Senior Environmental Planners and Project Managers in executing provincial, and Federal environmental assessments/impact assessments (planning, preliminary design, detail design, alternative delivery projects) as well as other approval and permitting activities for infrastructure/development projects.
  • Effectively and efficiently managing desktop environmental assessments using GIS and other available methods to address potential permitting requirements.
  • Assist project managers in the planning, coordination and logistics of project activities, including field work and professional and public consultation workshops.
  • Developing and executing engagement and consultation programs; including public, municipal, regulatory agency and Indigenous Community engagement, coordinating environmental specialists, as well as identifying and assessing environmental features, constraints, alternatives, potential effects, mitigation measures and avoidance opportunities.
  • Facilitate meetings with clients, stakeholders, and environmental regulatory agencies, including tracking of meeting minutes and reports.
  • Liaising with local, provincial, and Federal agencies regarding permits and approvals.
  • Collaborating with technical and professional staff across the company in completing assignments.
  • Coordinating, preparing for, attending, and documenting project meetings.
  • Support Project Managers in the development of project proposals.
  • Provides responsive, high-quality service to colleagues, clients, and other stakeholders by providing accurate, complete and up-to-date information, in a courteous, efficient and timely manner.
  • Some overnight travel may be required to service project needs of the client.
QualificationsMinimum Requirements:
  • 3 - 5 years of experience.
  • Bachelor #39;s Degree in related areas (e.g. Natural Resource Management, Natural Sciences, Environmental Studies)
  • 2+ years #39; experience supporting environmental assessments, regulatory permitting or monitoring projects.
  • Strong analytical, planning, organization, problem solving and time management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills as this role requires continuous interaction with team leaders.
  • Ability to express ideas logically, clearly and concisely; function effectively as part of a team; maintain discretion and confidentiality and work in both field and office environments.
  • Class 5 driver #39;s license.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working for environmental or engineering consulting companies is an asset.
  • Experience engaging with Indigenous communities is an asset.
  • Bilingual (English and French) an asset.

  • •Offered rate of compensation in Winnipeg will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $54,000.00 - $80,000.00.
