We work sustainably, transform lives and create better futures for communities. quot; Hudbay #39;s mission is to create sustainable value and strong returns by leveraging its core strengths in community relations, focused exploration, mine development and efficient operations.Mission:To create sustainable value and strong returns by leveraging our core strengths in community relations, focused exploration, mine development and efficient operations.Purpose of Role:The purpose of this role is to oversee the Financial Planning and Analysis ( quot;FP amp;A quot;) function for Manitoba ( quot;MBU quot;) and British Columbia ( quot;BCBU quot;) Business Units including the development and maintenance of a variety of financial models, analyses and processes which support management reporting, financial accounting and strategic decision making within the respective Business Units.Role Accountabilities:Long Range Planning ( quot;LRP quot;):

  • Design architecture for and oversee the maintenance of the MBU and BCBU LRP models.
  • Coordinate with respective business unit departments to oversee the annual update of the MBU and BCBU LRP models.
  • Prepare dashboards and presentations to support the annual LRP update, and other activities as required for tax, corporate development, accounting, projects/technical services, and treasury.
  • Document the process for the annual LRP update to ensure accountability and controls around the model inputs.
  • Build alternative growth scenarios into the base LRP models so that the effect of alternative investment choices can be analyzed.
  • Where applicable, lead the LRP model update for technical reports for MBU and BCBU.
Short Range Planning ( quot;SRP quot;) and Budgeting
  • Prepare and oversee annual budget submissions for MBU and BCBU and monthly forecasts.
  • Prepare and oversee annual budget presentations and monthly management reports.
  • Build and maintain robust forecasting, budgeting and planning processes for MBU and BCBU.
  • Review work prepared by Senior Financial Analyst, FP amp;A as applicable.
  • Create and maintain the SRP budget and forecast models and/or utilize the planning system for MBU and BCBU.
  • Audit and monitor the business unit SRP models and recommend changes as required to support model integrity and accuracy.
  • Run ad-hoc scenarios as needed.
Accounting and Financial Reporting:
  • Business Unit-level monitoring of cash flows, earnings, etc. using LRP and SRP to investigate variances to detect errors.
  • Oversee impairment test for MBU and BC, where applicable including impairment memo, ensuring appropriate controls and coordination with auditors.
  • Other ad-hoc requests as required.
  • Oversee the annual guidance submissions for MBU and BCBU.
Leadership of financial modeling and planning system within Hudbay:
  • Provide ad-hoc modeling services to other departments within MBU and BCBU.
  • Become a power user of the planning system and assist in training as needed.
Post-project review
  • Conduct post-project review for key capital projects for MBU and BCBU as identified for post-project review.
Experience and Qualifications:Experience needed to perform job accountabilities well:
  • Post secondary degree in business, accounting or engineering.
  • Financial modelling experience.
  • CPA or CFA Designation an asset.
  • Mining industry experience an asset.
  • Hyperion planning system experience an asset.
Knowledgeamp; skills needed to perform job accountabilities well:
  • Financial modelling including best practices
  • IFRS accounting treatments preferably specific to mining industry.
  • Business valuations principals (discounted cash flow, net present value, return on invested capital, internal rate of return).
  • Ability to distill large amounts of data into meaningful, insightful, and succinct analysis and recommendations, plus prepare effective data visualization/presentations to executives using PowerPoint or BI tools (such as PowerBI).
  • Excellent people skills to be used in building constructive working relationships across the boundaries of the Hudbay organization, characterized by a high level of acceptance, cooperation and mutual respect.
  • Demonstrated penchant for challenging the status quo and driving results and process improvements, in particular, proven ability to drive improvements in business unit reporting.
  • A logical, analytic thinker who takes a numeric, process-based approach to problem solving.
  • Ideally a leader who can envision future direction of functional area and independently drive team and organizational change to achievement.
