Join a team that has the environment down to a science.Your OpportunityAs a senior Environmental Assessment and Permitting team member, based in Saskatoon, Regina, or Winnipeg, you will provide leadership to all stages of a project #39;s lifecycle including environmental assessment, permitting, and construction and post-construction support. Projects will include small to large-scale provincial and federal environmental assessments for the power and energy, infrastructure, oil and gas, transportation, and mining sectors.Projects require environmental review and licensing, and this step is becoming increasingly critical for developments across the Prairies and around the world. We are seeking motivated team players who work collaboratively and are inspired to make a difference for the environment. Organizational skills and an ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced company are essential qualities. This is a permanent full-time position in our Prairies (Manitoba and Saskatchewan) Assessment and Permitting Team. There #39;s no end to the scope and significance of your work, and to where it can take you at Stantec.Our staff members have established excellent working relationships with regulators and clients across Canada, and our regulatory knowledge, environmental assessment experience, and scientific expertise allow us to help our clients develop the most effective approach to securing regulatory approvals and achieving permitting compliance.With strong knowledge in federal, provincial, and municipal jurisdictions, you will be joining a multidisciplinary team in Environmental Services at Stantec who works closely with our discipline specialists (e.g., ecosystems, water resources, cultural resources, and site investigation and remediation teams). We are looking for a highly experienced individual who is motivated, accountable, and has great communication skills to lead the delivery of high-quality environmental assessments and regulatory permitting submissions and applications. The successful candidate will lead in advising on projects and clients regarding regulatory requirements and will lead personnel in the completion of deliverables concerning the regulatory approval processes and compliance.Your Key Responsibilities

  • Work in a collaborative team of technical environmental and engineering specialists to support permitting processes.
  • Lead environmental planning and regulatory support on a wide variety of projects.
  • Lead project teams in the preparation of proposals and technical documents that support regulatory application development and submission.
  • Lead the identification and assessment of environmental features, constraints, alternatives, potential effects, mitigation measures, and avoidance opportunities.
  • Liaise with local, provincial, and federal agencies regarding permits and approvals.
  • Interact with internal business lines, our clients, and regulators.
  • Lead health and safety and quality management processes.
  • Participate in team and independent based work.

Education and Experience
  • A bachelor #39;s degree in the Sciences, with a focus on environmental studies such as geography or ecology or environmental engineering.
  • Master #39;s degree (or master #39;s degree in progress) is not a requirement but is considered a benefit.
  • A strong and experienced understanding of provincial and federal regulations and permitting requirements with 7 years working in this area is required.
  • Candidate must have a valid driver #39;s license and clean driver abstract.
