This unique role will involve a division of time between providing tax advisory services to clients and managing tax risk across the firm. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of Canadian tax laws and regulations, and a proven track record in Private Client tax advisory services, dispute resolution, and tax risk management. The successful candidate will own the following responsibilities:Contractual Risk

  • Provide expertise in service line considerations to support client acceptance process
  • Assist in the development and updating of service-specific contract templates
  • Support engagement letter negotiation process for partners
  • Identify market standards and provide guidance to partners on contract terms and conditions
Client Service Risk and Execution
  • Support partners in difficult risk matters from a Tax service line perspective
  • Act as an internal expert/cold reviewer in potential litigation matters
  • Lead regulatory compliance efforts by providing expertise in standards applicable to the Tax service line
Management of Risk Procedures
  • Emphasize, educate, and execute quality and risk controls in the Tax service line
  • Assist in the development of specific controls and systems in the Tax service line
  • Support in the resolution of disputes between on conflict/independence matters
  • Support in the mitigation of risk due to M amp;A and successful integration
Quality, Inspectionsamp; Training
  • Lead the Tax Quality Review process
  • Provide input into annual quality KPI ratings for partners
  • Support the development and delivery of targeted Tax service line training

Your experience and education:
  • You have completed your CPA designation as well as the In-Depth Tax Program and/or Master #39;s in Tax
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in a professional services firm, as well as experience in risk management, dispute resolution, quality assurance, and compliance
  • Deep technical knowledge of Canadian tax law and regulations, as well as experience in providing tax advisory services to clients. Experience in tax planning, compliance, and dispute resolution is critical. A focus on private client taxation is preferred
  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to lead and manage teams, delegate tasks effectively, and manage projects effectively
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex tax and dispute resolution issues to clients and colleagues in an expeditious, clear, calm, and concise manner
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with partners, clients, and stakeholders
  • A strong commitment to ethics and integrity, and a demonstrated ability to maintain the confidentiality of client information and comply with professional standards and regulations
