Murray’s Landscape Services Ltd. is a professional landscape design - build firm located in scenic Portugal Cove - St. Philips, Newfoundland and Labrador. We offer a supportive and collaborative work environment, competitive compensation, and an opportunity for professional development.Murray’s is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Arborist with exceptional technical, communication, organizational and management skills to join our team. This will be a seasonal position providing full time employment from April – December with the possibility of extension into full-time permanent employment based on the individual’s ability to take on other landscape related roles within the company.Responsibilities: · Reporting directly to the director of the company and working collaborative with other managers in the company.· Business development, responding to calls and emails, meeting with clients, estimate and providing quotation on tree care services.· Assigning daily tasks for our arborist crew, providing direction and instruction to staff.· Updating the weekly & monthly schedule of work,· Arborist assessments and report writing,· Oversee tree and shrub planting and installation,· Pruning of trees and shrubs and controlled takedowns,· Repair of damaged trees,· Fertilization of trees and shrubs· Installation or transplanting of large trees· Conduct a hazard assessment of each job site and plan to deal with all hazards identified to ensure safe execution of the work on all jobs.· Maintain truck, chipper, saws, ladders, and other equipment required to complete the work.Candidate Qualifications: · ISA Certified considered an asset.· Previous estimating and management experience.· Must be knowledgeable in the structure and physiology of trees and shrubs.· Must be able to diagnose major diseases of trees and shrubs common to this region· Must be able to identify insects and other pests of significance and be knowledgeable in the proper treatment of these pests.· Must be able to identify cultural and nutritional requirements of trees and shrubs and make recommendation to customers.· Must be familiar with all aspects of safely working in trees and around safety hazards such as power lines.Education and Training: · Must have completed a course in power line hazard analysis and safe working practices.· Must have valid Driver’s License, WHIMS, First Aid, Flag person, Fall protection, Powerline Hazard training.· Must have demonstrated competency in tree climbing and small engine use, care and maintenance.· Certification with the International Society of Arboriculture as a Certified Arborist (ISA) is an asset but not mandatory.Compensation:· Competitive Salary commensurate with experience· Enrollment in our Health and Wellness Program· Paid Professional Dues· Support with professional development and related education· Work Cell Phone providedJob Type: Full-timeSalary: $20.00-$30.00 per hourFlexible Language Requirement:
