Our leaders demonstrate the Government of Saskatchewan’s commitment to ensuring workplace health and safety.The Ministry of Environment, Forest Service Branch, is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as the Boreal Landscape Analyst located in our Prince Albert office.As the Boreal Landscape Analyst, you will:

  • Collaborate on regional assessments of the current state of forest landscape health;
  • Get cozy with your computer and interpret geospatial information to assess landscape level forest management plan targets;
  • Enjoy Saskatchewan’s forests while completing field assessments on those landscape level forest management plan targets;
  • Collaborate with our forestry professionals on compliance assurance protocols and strategic forest planning target compliance;
  • Assist with contract administration for program priorities such as forest education and engagement; and
  • Be an ambassador on Saskatchewan’s sustainable forest management practices in various inter- and intra-governmental groups related to boreal landscapes such as the Canadian Council of Forest Ministers.
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of sustainable forest management practices and forest operations in Canada. You will have knowledge of landscape level ecological processes and their influence on both the availability of habitat and productive commercial forest. An awareness of, and sensitivity to, trends and issues in the boreal forest that affect the economic, social and ecological sustainability of Saskatchewan’s Crown forest is essential. Knowledge of climate change and its influence on the boreal forest will also be considered a strong asset. You will have strong communication skills with a focus on building positive relationships.Typically, the competencies required for this position would be obtained through a Bachelor of Science degree in forestry, ecology or related biological science with experience in forest landscape ecology or forest management. Experience completing technical analyses, and preparing verbal and written communication is an asset. Eligibility for membership as a Registered Professional Forester or Registered Professional Forest Technologist with the Association of Saskatchewan Forestry Professionals is required.A current and valid drivers licence is required. Travel will be required for attendance of meetings and for field work.What We Offer:
