We are currently seeking a Finish Grader Operator for Prince Albert and Frenchman Butte project. This a full-time seasonal position.What is the roleReporting to the Highway Division Foreman, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the self-propelled motor grader, precisely spreading and mixing materials in order to pre-finish grade before paving. Other responsibilities also include:Operate grader controls to regulate height and angle of the grader blade.Able to maintain and keep a slope of 2% and equalize material.Finish grade base surface preparation to within half an inch (+-20mm)Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment.Ensure a sound understanding of the issues involving ground disturbance.Drive grader in successive passes over working area, observing reference stakes or hand signals of other workers, to level the surface to the specified grade.Able to determine the depth of the cut.Operate Grader on public roadways, safely and efficiently, with continuous awareness of surroundings.Perform routine cleaning and maintenance to ensure smooth operation of the grader.Ensure grader is in proper gear and is not moving too fast for working conditions.Demonstrate an understanding of grades and interpret roadway plans and drawings.Ensure company equipment is operated in a safe manner and in accordance with Carmacks Equipment maintenance practices.Attend daily and weekly safety meetings and inspections.Complete daily safety documentation.QualificationsWhat we value:Minimum 10 years’ experience working in road construction5 years’ experience operating as a Finish GraderHighways Roadbuilding experience is an assetKnowledge of construction methods, road construction materials, heavy equipment operation and industry requirements.Able to work long hours in all weather conditionsValid Drivers License with clean abstractAble to sucessfully meet pre-employment testing requirementWhat we offer:Extended Health/Dental benefitsCompetitive wageLiving Out AllowanceCOVID-19 considerations:To keep our employees safe, we have implemented weekly COVID-19 questionnaires, social distancing requirements, and providing necessary PPE for employees.To learn more about Carmacks and other opportunities please visit carmacksent.com.
