Job Description

CURRENT LOCATIONS: Various - Urban and Rural(with the understanding that you are employed by the Saskatchewan Rivers Public SchoolDivision)POSTING DATE: August 2, 2022CLOSING DATE: Applications will be accepted on an on-going basisHOURS OF WORK: Varied hours and frequency (on an “as needed” basis)SALARY: City Substitute Bus Drivers Rural Substitute Bus Drivers$91.62 per day, $81.30 per day, plus kilometer rate,plus the applicable Driver Allowances. plus the applicable Driver Allowancesand where required, the designatedrural driver supplement.REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION: Typically, the required knowledge, skills and abilities are obtained through successful completion of SaskatchewanRivers Driver’s Training Course.

  • Must possess and maintain a valid “Class 1 – 5” Saskatchewan driver’s license with a School Bus Endorsement.
  • Must possess and maintain a clean driver’s abstract.
  • Must have at least 5 consecutive years of unrestricted driving experience.
  • Knowledge of and ability to operate within Board policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of and ability to operate within The School Bus Operating Regulations, 1987 and The Highway Traffic Act.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill in the use of standard techniques required for securing passengers in wheelchairs
on the bus.
  • Ability to read and write to maintain daily records.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all staff, students and the public demonstrating
tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to conduct oneself in a manner appropriate to an educational institution that provides services to children
including demonstrating strict attention to confidentiality of school operations and student information.
  • It is a condition of employment that all candidates provide a criminal record check and a vulnerable sector check.
