The Strategic Parks Planner sets the direction for parks, open spaces, trails, and outdoor recreation facility planning and design. This role leads cross-functional teams and is responsible for developing policies, plans, designs, special projects, and public consultation processes. The role engages in long-range activities, including data collection, analysis, research, and report writing, while consulting with government officials, staff, consultants, community stakeholders, and the public. This advanced planning position requires strong independent judgment, creativity, and proactive action.About Your Background:To qualify for this role, you have a Bachelor #39;s degree in Community and Regional Planning, Landscape Architecture, Parks, Recreationamp; Leisure, or a related field, along with relevant experience in a municipal setting. Membership or eligibility for registration with the British Columbia Society of Landscape Architects is ideal. Full membership, or eligibility for full membership, in the Canadian Institute of Planners is an asset. Candidates should have at least five years of parks planning experience in a government environment, which includes managing planning projects, studies, and policy or program development, demonstrating proven skills in engaging with the community and various stakeholder groups.
