Job Description

Supervisor of Records, Information and PrivacyThe Regional District #39;s administrative office is in Prince George, in North Central, BC on the unceded ancestral lands of the Lheidli T #39;enneh First Nation. We are a local government that delivers a wide range of services to people living in seven electoral areas and four member municipalities.A permanent full-time position is available in the Corporate Services Department for a Supervisor of Records, Information and Privacy.Reporting to the General Manager of Legislative and Corporate Services, this exempt position is responsible for the Regional District #39;s records, and information management program, Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIPPA) requirements and requests, privacy management and related organizational training.The position has a pivotal role in advancing the organization #39;s implementation of a new Electronic Document and Records Management System (EDRMS) and supports the overall development, application, and maintenance of the centralized Records Management Program. It also will regularly collaborate with other departments to develop and improve information governance practices and provide advice, training, and guidance to the management team, staff, and volunteer Fire Chiefs on FOIPPA and records management policies, procedures, and compliance. The Supervisor acts as the Freedom of Information (FOI) Coordinator and with the support of a Records Management Corporate Services Assistant will handle information requests, interpret, and apply FOIPPA regulations, review and analyze complex data for release, and make recommendations. Additionally, the role involves assisting in drafting and reviewing Privacy Impact Assessments.Qualifications and Experience

  • Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by education in Local Government Administration, Records Management, and Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Minimum of two (2) years progressive experience in the records and information management field, preferably in a local government or public sector environment.
  • Ability to interpret and apply the provisions of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and familiarity with the Local Government Management Association #39;s (LGMA) Records Management Manual would be an asset.
