Copper Mountain Mine is a large-scale open pit copper mine located in south central British Columbia. The mine has evolved into a mature and highly efficient operation with a long-term mine plan and significant opportunity for mine life extension. To be successful in this role we require someone with strong interpersonal and communication skills, who is able to collaborate and communicate with a diverse team.Position OverviewOversee the operation, maintenance, and surveillance of the Tailings Management Facility.Troubleshoot day-to-day operational and maintenance issues associated with the construction of the tailings facility, in conjunction with other Departments as required.Coordinating, communicating, and site support for the Engineer of Record.Act as the TMF Qualified Person as defined in the Health, Safety and Reclamation Code for Mines in British Columbia and the Company’s ITRB Terms of Reference as they may be modified from time to time.Integrated role in short-term and long-term planning, budgeting, and execution for the development of the Tailings Management Facility.Daily supervision of the operations team associated with the safe construction and management of the TMF.Integrated role in the Water Management Plan associated with the mill and TMF.Integrated into the Mill Department to provide support and coordination when required for department wide projects such as, but not limited to, mill shutdowns.Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with operators and tradespeople.Demonstrated history of safe work habits.Other duties as assigned.QualificationsDegree in metallurgy, chemical engineering, mining, mineral processing, or relatable geoscience engineering to tailings management.A minimum of 5–7 years’ experience in concentrators, including significant time spent managing tailings storage facilities.Currently hold a professional engineer designation or registered as an EIT and able to obtain a Professional Engineer designation in British Columbia within 6 months.Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability.Valid driver’s licence.Ensures compliance with all applicable safety and environmental regulations, company policies, and standards.Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team environment.Ensures targets are set, communicated, and monitored for performance.Must be clean shaven.Pay and BenefitsCopper Mountain Mine offers a competitive wage, a comprehensive benefit package including RRSP contributions.
