IT Specialist Copper Mountain Mining Corporation is a TSX/ASX listed copper producer, developer, and explorer in world-class mining jurisdictions. Princeton is a community-oriented town with a diverse offering of activities, especially for those who love the outdoors. Princeton is also in close proximity to both the city of Vancouver and the Okanagan.Summary Reporting to the Administration Manager, the IT Specialist is responsible for full oversight of smooth operations of the Copper Mountain Mine’s LAN hardware and software.Key Responsibilities

  • Adheres to Copper Mountain Occupational Health and Safety policy and procedures, and demonstrates safe work practices,
  • Takes ownership of multiple levels of helpdesk for site escalation,
  • Provides high system availability,
  • Builds relationships with IT services vendors and works closely with the site on IT projects,
  • Configures and maintains FortiGate firewalls, Rules, Routes, NAT, and VPNs,
  • Acquires, sets up, and maintains new workstations and servers,
  • Arranges and maintains remote support for critical 24X7 systems,
  • Maintains expertise in current and evolving technologies, recommends and implements new technologies,
  • Keeps the ERP and asset management system,
  • Delivers end-user and desktop support both remotely and onsite,
  • Performs any other responsibilities related to the IT Specialist role as required or as assigned by the department head.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or closely related field,
  • Minimum of five to seven (5-7) years of experience in a computer technology service delivery capacity while administering a Windows environment,
  • Customer service focused on previous help desk experience,
  • Familiar with Windows 8 and 10 operating systems administrative functions,
  • Experience working with cloud technology such as Microsoft 365,
  • Expertise in Windows servers including Data Center & Hyper-V host systems,
  • Expertise in Active Directory,
  • Experience in Database Management System (Microsoft SQL Server, etc.)
  • Knowledge of IBM Maximo and Microsoft Dynamics GP 2018 is considered an asset,
  • Expertise in Windows servers 2008, 2012, 2012R2, 2018 and 2019,
  • Possess a valid Class 5/7N driver’s license and have access to personal transportation.

  • Advanced oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to present ideas,
  • Visible analytical and out-of-the-box problem-solving skills,
  • Ability to remain organized coupled with prioritizing tasks effectively, managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with competing demands and deadlines,
  • Required to meet pre-employment testing requirements.
Working Conditions
  • Exposure to extended and unpredictable hours requiring providing support remotely or presence at the site,
  • Exposure to a potentially stressful environment by constant requests from several people causing uncertainly and ambiguity,
  • Work involves wearing personal protective equipment when performing work in a mine, or processing plant environment, including a hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear,
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity and climb stairs.
Other Requirements
  • Provide proof of a valid Class 5/7N driver’s license,
  • Demonstrate eligibility to work in Canada,
  • Provide confirmation of valid educational requirements,
  • Successful completion of pre-employment screening requirements and drug & alcohol testing.
