The Care Group (“TCG”) offers high quality residential care services to complex care clients in 8 homes throughout the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island.Our Values: We believe our residents deserve excellence in care and we strive to achieve this by working as a team towards our common goal – a happy and healthy resident.THE OPPORTUNITYWe are looking for Hospitality Manager to join our The Gardens team in Qualicum Beach, B.C.Shifts: Monday-FridayResponsibilities: · Direct all aspects of the Culinary and Food & Beverage Operations· Coordinate menus, purchasing, staffing and food preparation.· Ensure compliance of standards, policies, and procedures of Residential, Assisted and Independent Regulations and Safe food handling.· Ensure that the preparation of food for residents is on time, as per residential care regulations.· Prepare meals according to special diets requirements (minced, puree, diabetic, etc.) and therapeutic diet orders.· Plan and manage food quantities and plating requirements.· Understand the Residents’ expectations related to food quality, presentation and service and ensure staff executes to this level.· Manage productivity and all expenses in accordance with business requirements.· Work directly with local food producers and suppliers to ensure the highest quality of product with a focus on supporting local businesses.· Work with the General Manager, Culinary Team, Resident Council Culinary Committee, Servers, and dietician to design seasonal menus using superior products, presentations, and flavours.· Maintain all standard recipes and ‘cost out’ all menu items to ensure that all menus fall within the predetermined food cost.· Conduct training for all Culinary and Serving staff on menu items including ingredients, preparation methods and unique tastes.· Conduct monthly Server, Dietary and Culinary Department meetings.· Liaise with Maintenance ensuring maintenance requests are completed quickly and all fittings, fixtures and equipment are maintained in safe working order.· Prepare monthly reports, commenting on key performance indicators and action taken to keep on targets.Experience and skills required: · University Degree or College diploma in Hotel or F&B Management and/or culinary institute is preferred with Red Seal designation or equivalent considered an asset.· Valid Food Safety/Food Handler’s Certification and Smart Serve Certification.· Valid Pro-serve certification and must maintain certification.· Experience preparing budgets, operating statements and payroll progress reports as needed to assist in the financial management of department· Minimum of 8 years experience with 2 years of experience at the department head level.· Proven team-builder and mentor with outstanding coaching skills.· Clearly demonstrated ability to be innovative, creative and able to think outside the box.· Must have leadership experience to conduct planning, service, and supervision of a large group of people.· Management experience in a unionized environment as asset.If this opportunity is not a fit for your background and experience please feel free to forward to any interested colleagues.We invite interested candidates to submit their resume in confidence.
