Drama - Artist in ResidenceBishops UniversityLocation: QuebecDate posted: 2022-06-22Advertised until: 2022-07-22The Nancy and John Gallop Artist in ResidenceBishop’s University DramaBishop’s University is happy to announce the creation of this fund in support of an artist-in-residence for Bishop’s University.We are calling for applications from an individual, or a small team of artists, for the first year of this new program.The University sits on the ancestral and unceded land of the Abenaki, who are members of the Wabenaki confederacy, at a meeting of rivers. It is the only English-language University outside of Montreal. The Drama Department continues to enjoy the support of the community. In alignment with Bishop’s University’s Strategic Plan for the Arts, we also are committed to bringing theatre arts to non- traditional spaces and bringing theatre into conversation with other programs and disciplines. This year, for example, senior students brought forum theatre to an international conference on preventing violent extremism; also, in collaboration with the Music Department, we launched our first performance of the Musical Theatre Concentration, an actor-centred re-imagining of Godspell, including shadow puppets. We are ready to challenge ourselves, our students, and our community. We welcome applications from emerging and established theatre artists. We welcome applicants with a lived experience and/or professional knowledge and experience speaking to social justice, marginalized identities, and Reconciliation. This amount includes compensation for the instruction of this course, DRA332, will be compensated as per Part-time faculty Collective agreement, at $8662.95 per course.
