Job Description

Overview:The human relations officer exercises activities of conceptualization, orientation, actualization, analysis, and evaluation in one or more social programs. He realizes psychosocial interventions with an interdisciplinary philosophy and collaborates at different levels in the programming of activities in the service to which he is assigned and to the evaluation of quality. He participates in promotion and prevention programs.The person will take part in a mobile crisis intervention unit to support teams and villages in need. The HRO needs to be comfortable with crisis intervention related to murder, suicide, family violence, sexual abuse, and addiction as well as mental health problems.Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the development of community responses for clients in distress related to grief, post-traumatic stress disorder, intergenerational trauma.
  • Intervene directly with clients when requested, in difficult situations and/ or traumatic grief.
  • Work in collaboration with the social services partners (DYP, medical team, mental health resources, schools) as well as those of the community including the municipal council, religious leaders and the KRPF.
  • Travel to other communities to offer support and guidance to different services and organizations in matters related to grief and post-traumatic intervention strategies.
  • Assist in other communities as needed in times of crisis.
  • Intervenes and evaluates psychosocial needs with clients struggling with various mental and social issues
  • Work with an individual, family or community approach with the multidisciplinary team
  • Sensitize and mobilize the population around social problems
  • Ensures long-term case follow-ups
  • Evaluate clients for residential alcohol and drug treatment programs
  • Liaise with the various residential alcohol and drug treatment centres, facilitating client admissions and assuring the needed follow-up pending discharge
  • Intervene in crisis situations within the community of Kuujjuaq
  • Participate in the 24 hour psychosocial emergency services including emergency measures as per the Youth Protection Act
  • Refer clients to appropriate outside resources where indicated
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, case discussions and various committees as required
  • Take over other tasks when one member of the team is on leave
  • Perform all other related duties requested by his/her immediate superior
Qualifications:
  • Must have a Bachelor degree in Social Work, Psychology, Criminology or Sexology
  • Possess at least 2 years of related experience in the social service sector, in CLSC
  • Fluent in English and French (spoken & written) knowledge of Inuktitut would be an asset
  • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and interested in sharing knowledge and experience with co-workers

SALARY: Min: 947.80 $ Max: $ 1 679.30 $ for 35 hoursISOLATION PREMIUM: 203.66 $ or 338.29 $ per week, depending on the family statusRETENTION PREMIUM: 114.99 $ per weekCARGO PREMIUM: 61.16 $ per week or more, depending on the family statusAny employee recruited in Quebec more than 50 kilometers from the locality in which she/he is called upon to perform her/his duties, will be granted annual trips and lodging unit as per her/his status (transit or shared lodging if necessary).Quick Apply
