As a separate and large federal employer, the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) supports and will follow this new policy direction.As of November 8, 2021, all employees of the CRA, including new hires, are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 unless accommodated based on a medical contraindication, religion, or another prohibited ground for discrimination as defined under the Canadian Human Rights Act and attest to their vaccination status.The requirement to be fully vaccinated applies to all employees and new hires, whether they are teleworking, working remotely or working on-site. This condition of employment applies to indeterminate (permanent), determinate (term), and student hiring. Where an EE gap exists at the time of appointment, EE may be used as an appointment criterion for permanent and temporary appointments/staffing actions over six months made through this process.Job dutiesIT Specialist CS0079The Data Services and Technology Management Division (DSTM) of the Information Technology Branch (ITB) is responsible for the provision of modern, sustainable and scalable data services. The division collaborates with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) branches and ITB stakeholders in order to provide appropriate Database Management and Business Intelligence (BI) solutions.Key responsibilities:

  • Providing technical support for Database Management on mainframe, cloud and distributed platforms.
  • Offering technical support for the Database Management Systems (DBMS) on the mainframe (z/OS), electronic Business Computing Infrastructure (eBCI) platform (Linux), Cloud and Windows environments.
  • Database Infrastructure Development research and implementation projects.
  • Database security.

The candidate must show how they meet the required experience for each stream for which they apply.Please demonstrate how you meet all the experience requirements that you wish to be considered for, since these may be used later on for placements.Stream 1 (Distributed & Database Services):Candidates must have experience* as a database administrator utilizing at least one (1) of the following Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS):
  • Oracle;
  • DB2 for Linux/UNIX/Windows;
  • PostgreSQL;
  • Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Experience is normally associated with the performance of these functions as part of the major job duties accomplished for a period of not less than four (4) cumulative years within the last seven (7) years.
Stream 2 (Host Database Services):Candidates must have experience* in the following:
  • DB2 for z/OS (mainframe); and
  • Messaging Queue (MQ) on z/OS and distributed platforms.
  • Experience is normally associated with the performance of these functions as part of the major job duties accomplished for a period of not less than five (5) cumulative years within the last seven (7) years.
Stream 3 (Cloud database):Candidates must have experience* in at least one (1) of the following Database Management Systems (DBMS) in the Amazon or Azure Cloud:
  • Implementing RDBMS (Relational Database Management Systems) in Cloud models IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) and/or PaaS (Platform as a Service) and/or SaaS (Software as a Service);
  • Implementing NoSQL databases in Cloud models.
  • Experience is normally associated with the performance of these functions as part of the major job duties accomplished for a period of not less than three (3) cumulative year within the last five (5) years.
