Job Description

Regional Project Coordinator SCWIST Term Employment Position SCWIST (The Society for Canadian Women in Science and Technology) is a not-for-profit society that specializes in improving the presence and influence of women and girls in STEM (Science, Technology,Engineering, and Math) in Canada. SCWIST promotes participation and advancement through education, networking, mentorship, collaborative partnerships and advocacy. SCWIST’s vision is an environment where girls and women in Canada pursue their interest, education and careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), without barriers.Opportunity SCWIST is seeking four Regional Project Coordinators (one bilingual) to join our team. The role reports to the Senior Project Manager and is a 15-month term for an average of 37.5 hours per week. You will be an integral component of a pilot project that will deliver pre-employment and skill development training for women in STEM across the country. You will be supporting the project in either Ontario,British Columbia, Quebec or Manitoba. It is preferable that you live in the location but not mandatory.Key Responsibilities

  • Work in collaboration with the Sr. Project Manager to develop the participant outreach program to engage under-served groups
  • Engage and recruit participants for under-represented groups (Indigenous Peoples, newcomers, racialized groups, and members of 2SLGBTQAI+ communities)
  • Provide program information and wrap-around support services to participants
  • Connect with employers in their region to find job shadowing and internship opportunities for the participants
  • Proactively build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and employers to further objectives of the program
  • Help with the planning and facilitating of events and forums for employers and program participants
  • Monitor project progress through accurate data collection for program evaluation, outcomes and impact metrics
  • Successfully complete project activities on time according to the work plan
  • Work with the SCWIST marketing and communication specialists to market and promote program to participants
  • Ensure that participants’ needs are met as project evolves
  • Act as the point of contact for all participants in their region
  • Ensure expenses are reported accurately and responsibly
  • Regularly communicate the project status to Sr. Project Manager
  • Perform other project activities as identified
Skills and Qualifications The successful candidate will possess the following skills. When in doubt, apply!
  • 2-5 years’ experience in project coordination/management, from conception to delivery
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field
  • Strong networking and outreach skills with communities, nonprofit groups, women’s organizations and employers
  • An ability to prepare and interpret action plans
  • Strong client-facing and teamwork skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Slack, Project Management software and Learning Management Systems (LMS)
  • Effective English communication skills, both verbal and written; French is an asset
  • Skills in event planning, and experience facilitating virtual events
  • Exceptional computer skills, ability to collaborate with people remotely using virtual platforms
  • Exceptional organization, time-management, interpersonal and people-management skills
The following skills and experience would be an asset:
  • Knowledge of employment sector services, an asset
  • Experience working in the field of STEM
  • Social media experience including curating, designing and managing content
  • Interest in STEM programs, gender equity, advocacy, and impact
  • Completion of GBA+ certification (or complete shortly after contract starts)
Term and Location and Compensation $28.20/hour based on 37.5-hour week and CPP and EIThis is a 15-month term position to begin as soon as possible.
