As part of their duties, the quality specialist will be responsible for monitoring and improving the performance of suppliers.Your responsibilities

  • Resolve supply quality issues using standard tools such as 8D.
  • Ensure quick and effective management of escapes: implement immediate containment, validate if the problem applies to other products, establish an effective action plan with the various departments of the plant (supply, production, project management, quality, engineering), and lead the supplier to establish an appropriate recovery plan.
  • Act as a leader in supplier quality management.
  • Support the production team to fully understand the problems of the suppliers, thus facilitating the resolution of the issues with them.
  • Work with the pre-production engineer to identify risks associated with product procurement and release new orders.
  • Establish product control plans (receiving/shipping inspections and in-production critical points).
  • Develop and maintain internal inspection plans in SAP: critical points, sampling, batch control, etc.
  • Manage non-conformities with suppliers and the procurement team.
  • Liaise with the procurement and North American Hub teams to enforce N299 requirements.
  • Identify potential supplier claims monthly.
  • Produce monthly statistics and analysis of supplier quality data.
  • Support the warranty management team to resolve quality issues with suppliers.
  • Influence supplier performance evaluation and supplier quality development activities with the North America Hub team.
  • Establish and maintain supplier quality procedures and practices based on Hitachi Energy Canada Inc. global procedures.
  • Support the implementation of product certification projects with new suppliers.

  • Knowledge of SAP and Microsoft office tools
  • Knowledge of control plans, FMECA (Failure Modes, Effects, & Criticality Analysis)
  • Continuous improvement skills
  • Bachelors degree in electrical or mechanical engineering
  • At least 5-8 years of experience in a technical role
  • 5+ years in a supply management role
  • Experience in high power transformers (an asset)
  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) qualification (an asset)
  • Proven track record in continuous process improvement; positive leadership; strong track record of planning and linking solutions to deliverables
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, ever-changing matrix manufacturing environment
