POSITION: Learning Assistant Teacher - temporaryASSIGNMENT: Elementary (K-7)FTE: 0.2LOCATION: École Red Bluff LtakoEFFECTIVE DATES: Commencing October 7, 2022 until June 30, 2023Basic Qualifications: The successful candidate will hold a valid BC Teaching Certificate and be a member in good standing in the BC Ministry of Education Teacher Regulation Branch AND possesses one or more of the following:Training Specialization: Elementary Education with a specialization in Special EducationRelated Teaching Experience:Recent successful experience teaching in Learning Assistance at the Elementary LevelExperience providing programs for learning supportA Reasonable Expectation: based on a teachers skills, abilities, professional development and overall classroom teaching experience, that the teacher will be able to perform the duties in a successful manner in collaboration with other professional staffAdditional Qualifications:Other:Willingness to support the school plan for student successWillingness to lead IEP and school-based team meetings and to implement plans for studentsCommitment to working as part of a team in the development and implementation of the school growth plan and Aboriginal Enhancement AgreementKnowledge of early literacy programsWillingness to work as a member of the school-based teamWillingness to support whole school environmental initiativesCommitment to school-wide Positive Behaviour Support program as a form of addressing behaviour in the classroom and the school as a wholeLearning Assistance TeacherA learning assistance teacher ideally has a major in Special Education. Specific training in supporting students with learning disabilities is desirable.The Candidate should be able to provide demonstrated experience and ability in the following:a demonstrated ability to support planning that allows access to the curriculum for all studentsAbility to model instructional strategies which address a wide range of disabilitiesAbility to lead teams, liaise with outside agencies and maintain extensive records of meetingsAbility to support classroom teachers to integrate technology for the purpose of providing access to the curriculum for all studentsCollaboratively develop and assess programs and IEPs for students with a variety of exceptional needsTraining and experience in administering curriculum-based assessment and standardized assessmentsWriting summaries of assessment resultsFacilitating communication and coordinating services and resources through a school-based and working team modelAbility to support in the initial development of schedules for education assistants and support staff in the schoolMaintaining accurate and current records of all students receiving support services according to Ministry and District guidelinesOffering instructional support in or out of the classroom using resources appropriate for individual student needs and in accordance with Ministry expectationsTracking students with special needs from year to year and ensuring all students are accurately categorized according to Ministry and District guidelinesFollowing all policies, procedures and guidelines for Special Education services as defined in the Ministry of Education Manual of Special Education ServicesWillingness to work as part of a team in the development and implementation of the School Growth PlanWillingess to work as a member of the school based TeamWilling to support whole-school environmental initiativesCommitment to the school-wide Positive Behaviour Support program as a form of addressing behaviour in the classroomThe learning assistance teacher provides services to students and staff in the regular classroom as well as alternate environments and must be able to work in a collaborative and consultative manner with classroom teachers, prinicipals, the school-based team, special education assistants and others.The Quesnel School District is an equal opportunity employerQuick Apply
