Job Description

Sentrex Wind Services Inc. is a leading service provider to the commercial wind energy industry.We are based in Quispamsis, New Brunswick area and we work throughout Canada. We install and maintain tall test towers for wind measurement (met towers), we provide remote sensing wind measurement services (SoDAR and LiDAR) and we provide off-grid power supplies for remote sites.We are currently seeking a technician for field and shop work. The job is suited for a person who cares about doing a job right; has a strong aptitude for troubleshooting, repair, fabrication and assembly; has solid computer skills; can work alone or with a team; is willing and able to travel; can prepare detailed field reports; and, enjoys both office and field work. If you cannot travel or do not want to travel, please do NOT apply.Duties of the successful candidate will include building of mobile, low voltage power supplies for off-grid use, incorporating solar, small diesel, fuel cells and/or micro wind. Duties will also include installation of off-grid power supplies, and LiDAR units and SoDAR units throughout Canada; monitoring, troubleshooting and repair work; installing and configuring other wind measurement equipment including data logging and communications. On the job training will be provided for the right candidate.Prior experience in welding, fabrication, carpentry, panel wiring, electronics and electrical work or a combination of these would be an asset. Travel to remote sites will require candidate to operate 4WD pickups pulling trailers (on road and off road) and operate ATV's and snowmobiles.Wages will be commensurate with skills level.Mandatory:

  • Valid driver's license / clean driving abstract
  • Clean drug tests
  • Ability to read and write field notes and reports
  • Ability to read assembly drawings and wiring schematics.
  • Proficiency with hand tools.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with basic tools.
  • Physical fitness and ability to perform physical work on a job site on a daily basis, including lifting and carrying heavy equipment and tools, and capable of working outdoors in all seasons and many weather conditions.
  • Must enjoy a fast pace and daily change in your task list
  • Must enjoy working as part of a team and getting tasks accomplished
  • Must honestly care about your workmanship – if you don’t, then don’t waste your time or ours responding
  • Must have discretion, common sense, positive attitudeMust be willing and able to travel within Canada for extended periods of weeks or months, and occasionally travel abroad if required.
  • Must be computer literate
The following would be considered as assets:
  • A technology or technician diploma or certification, or some engineering studies at university level.
  • Construction, industrial, or tower rigging experience
  • Previous experience in the wind energy industry
  • Previous training and/or experience in rigging, fall arrest, working at heights
  • Troubleshooting low voltage (< 24V) DC systems
  • Bilingualism (French and English), though not mandatory, would be helpful
  • AutoCAD would be an asset
