What you will do: Located at our Parkland in the Valley Retirement Living community and reporting to the Facility Maintenance Manager, the successful candidate provides housekeeping and laundry services throughout the facility, including resident suites, washrooms, office space and common areas, as part of the Hospitality Team. The Housekeeping Attendant works together with the Health Services and Food Services departments to uphold the resident-directed Philosophy of Service.How you will do it:
  • Collect towels and linens laundry from resident suites;
  • Sorts laundry into appropriate piles based on laundry type;
  • Operates washers and dryers properly; ensures machines are loaded properly using proper washing formula and appropriate dial settings as instructed;
  • Fills and replenishes supplies in resident’s suites, offices, and washrooms;
  • Empties/cleans waste receptacles – place waste in designated trash area;
  • Moves furniture, supplies and equipment as required and in accordance with prescribed work schedules;
  • Delivers clean towels and linens to resident’s suite and puts in appropriate dresser/closet or allow resident to put away if they wish;
  • Uses microfibers as directed - dusts, cleans furniture, counters, shelving, walls, window/door ledges and casings, sinks, toilets and bathroom facilities.
  • Maintains clean floors in laundry room, resident suites, hallways, elevators and common areas using appropriate cleaners and microfibers;
  • Advises Supervisor of any and all equipment malfunctions and repair requirements, as well as any relevant information and/or observations;
  • Assist the resident and/or family in identifying goals and interventions related to housekeeping and laundry needs;
  • Takes every reasonable precaution to protect own health and safety and the health and safety of other persons at or near the workplace;
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.
The must haves:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent education;
  • Ability to operate housekeeping and commercial laundry equipment; safe use of cleaning agents;
  • Works and communicates with internal and external customers to meet their needs in a polite, courteous, and cooperative manner;
  • Displays a high level of initiative, effort and commitment towards completing assignments efficiently. Demonstrates responsible behaviour and attention to detail;
  • Works with minimal supervision and responds appropriately to supervision;
  • Demonstrated regular attendance.
Supplemental Qualifications considered an asset:
  • Previous experience in working with the elderly in long-term care or a senior’s independent living environment;
  • First Aid and CPR certification;
  • Bilingualism in French/English.
