Position Summary:Responsible for providing support and short-term time limited breaks that strengthen families and provide a much-needed break from demands for caregivers of children with developmental disabilities residing within the Rainy RiverDistrict for the Family Respite Program.In-home respite: respite is provided in the individual’s home.Out-of-home respite: respite is provided in the Family Respite Casual Worker’s home or in a facility approved by the family.In the Community: the individual with a disability is accompanied by their Family Respite Casual Worker to community events and activities so that they may participate more completely in the community.Hours of Work:Must be flexible to meet family’s needs, may include some overnight.The number of hours of service available varies in consultation with the family based on need and availability.Knowledge and Skills Required:Knowledge of Developmental Disabilities, Early Child Development, Administration of Medication, Behavior Management, Lifting and Transferring, and/or Personal Care is an asset.Ability to demonstrate as a mature and responsible adult role model.Excellent verbal and written communication and problem-solving skills are required.Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.Ability to work in stressful, high-pressure situations.Proficient in computer software applications including MS Office, and database programs.Qualifications:Experience as a parent and/or formal child care training.Mature and stable personality and a positive, non-judgemental attitude.Ability to establish a caring relationship with clients and a professional relationship with Agency staff.First Aid/CPR training required; however, available paid training for successful applicants.Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training an asset; however, available paid training for successful applicants.Requirements:Must possess a valid Ontario Driver’s License and have access to a vehicle with an OPCF6A Insurance endorsement and a minimum of $1,000,000 Liability.A satisfactory internal record checkSatisfactory Criminal record check (including vulnerable sector)Satisfactory driver’s abstract.Please submit resume with letter of application to:HR@krrcfs.caHuman Resources DepartmentKenora-Rainy River Districts Child and Family Services820 Lakeview DriveKenora, ON P9N 3P7Fax No. (807)467-5539 ATT: HRKenora-Rainy River Districts Child and Family Services is an equal opportunity employer.
