Community:Rankin InletReference number:05-507495Type of employment:IndeterminateType of Employment 2:This employment opportunity is open to all applicants.Union Status:This position is included in the Nunavut Employees UnionSalary:$82,899.00 to $94,064.00 per annum, 42 hour/weekNorthern Allowance:$18,517.00 per annumSubsidized staff housing availableClosing Date:Friday, October 28, 2022 - 11:59pmThis is a Highly Sensitive Position and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, along with a clear Vulnerable Sector Check is required.This employment opportunity is open to all applicants.Reporting to the Correctional Supervisor, the Correctional Caseworker is responsible for maintaining the security and safety of offenders within a designated area pursuant to established Department/Division/Facility policies, procedures and standards. This position is also responsible for case management and for performing other specialized duties within a correctional facility as required. Correctional Caseworkers may rotate through designated posts within the facility.The successful candidate should have the ability to monitor, analyze and assess human behavior, determinate potential risks and apply appropriate mitigation procedures, methods and techniques. The incumbent must have effective interpersonal skills with the ability to deescalate aggressive behavior. The ability to interpret and ensure applicable safety, security and/or emergency procedural requirements is essential.If you have the requirements below please make sure to include them in your resume:

  • Experience utilizing a personal computer and associated software application, such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, etc.
  • Written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Class 5 driver’s license must be obtained within the probationary period as well as First Aid and CPR certification.
If you already have a Class 4 or 5 driver’s license, please include that in your resume.If you have any experience in the points listed below that are considered assets, please include them in your resume:
  • Related experience in a correctional services environment
  • Related experience working in the Mental Health or Wellness environment
  • Related experience in social or health support service environment
  • Capacity to communicate in Inuktitut and/or Inuinnaqtun
  • Updated First Aid and CPR certification
The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktitut, English and French.
