Meliadine is located just northwest of Rankin Inlet, a small coastal town on the shores of Hudson Bay. Commercial production began at Meliadine in mid-May 2019 and the mine officially opened at the end of June. This mine is our largest gold deposit in terms of mineral resources and we expect to operate it for at least 14 years. The site features a power plant and processing facilities, as well as a complete camp complex.YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:Reporting to the Mine Projects General Supervisor, the Mine Automation Specialist is part of the Mine Department and collaborates with other departments of the mine. He/she will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

• Lead the operation and usage of the Sandvik Automine system;
• Implement and expand the Sandvik Automine project;
• Implement and deploy the UG Mine department technology projects;
• Train others to operate the system whenever required;
• Create and update procedures, training material and other materials related to the Automine project;
• Plan and ensure execution of Automine extension, new equipment and levels, following up materials and plans whenever needed;
• Ensure safety features of the projects are implemented and in place;
• Ensure safe operation of the Automine, following procedures and guidelines without exceptions;
• Produce daily production figures that are correctly reported;
• Generate daily and weekly Automation Performance Reports identifying the highlights, encountered problems and issues;
• Work in conjunction with the Mucking Supervisor and General Supervisor to ensure the system is correctly deployed and that the UG production crews, electrical and mobile department are aware of all activities;
• Compile the major delays and troubleshoot solutions;
• Coordinate with supplier, Sandvik, whenever needed for troubleshooting to address other issues;
• Perform all other duties as requested by the UG mine supervision team.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

• High School Diploma;
• Minimum of 5 years in underground mine operations or planning;
• Demonstrate working knowledge and understanding of efficient mining practices, procedures and regulations;
• Demonstrate ability to prioritize and work under tight deadlines on multiple initiatives;
• Resourcefulness and creative problem-solving skills;
• Be a self-motivated team player with a positive attitude;
• Experience working in a multicultural environment;
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team;
• Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint;
• Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (Oral and written). Selected candidates must attain a passing mark on the SPEEXX English language assessment.

Your Work Schedule

• Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest; flights departing from all communities in the Kivalliq region, Mirabel or Val-d’Or, Quebec.
