Meliadine is located just northwest of Rankin Inlet, a small coastal town on the shores of Hudson Bay. Commercial production began at Meliadine in mid-May 2019 and the mine officially opened at the end of June. This mine is our largest gold deposit in terms of mineral resources and we expect to operate it for at least 14 years. The site features a power plant and processing facilities, as well as a complete camp complex.YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE: Reporting to the Engineering coordinator, the Mine Design Technician is part of the Engineering department and collaborates with other departments of the mine such as Mine operations and Geology. They will ensure the respect of good engineering practices in terms of underground mine design for the mid-term and short term planned infrastructures. In their duty, the design technician will make sure that the planned infrastructures are designed according to Meliadine mine standards, industry best practices, and within the regulations guidelines. The incumbent will ensure also that the goals and objectives are achieved, while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

• Produce and issue high level and detailed layouts of the underground mine, in respect of the current standards at Meliadine;
• Prepare the issued prints and layouts for the approval process, and make sure the said process is applied & followed by the engineering team members and by the other departments stakeholders;
• Support & assist the mine planners in the Level design process, and collect the feedback and improvement opportunities from the stakeholders;
• Participate in the short-term planning exercise, by providing assistance to the mine planners in their feedback loop with mine operations;
• Participate to the various mine design projects that aims to reduce the health and safety risks and to optimize the mining performance;
• Identify & implement improvement initiatives to the design process that might enhance safety and productivity.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

• College level technician diploma or Engineering degree, in mining or in a related field;
• 4+ years’ experience in Underground mining, with relevant experience related to underground mine design; narrow vein mining experience is an asset;
• Strong working knowledge of all Microsoft Office suites, Deswik, AutoCAD;
• Must have good organizational skills, high learning capacity, and problem-solving ability;
• Experience working in a multicultural environment;
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team;
• Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (Oral and written);
• Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.

Note that the official working language at Meliadine is English.Your Work Schedule:

• Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest;
• Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and may accommodate to cover other travelling expenses.
