Meliadine is located just northwest of Rankin Inlet, a small coastal town on the shores of Hudson Bay. Commercial production began at Meliadine in mid-May 2019 and the mine officially opened at the end of June. This mine is our largest gold deposit in terms of mineral resources and we expect to operate it for at least 14 years. The site features a power plant and processing facilities, as well as a complete camp complex.YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:Reporting to the Electrical General Supervisor, the Surface Electrical Coordinator is part of the Maintenance Department and collaborates closely with other departments of the mine. The incumbent is responsible for the coordination and management of electrical projects for our surface and underground operations such as new construction, technology implementation, reliability, best practices implementation, etc. He/she will work closely with the supervisor to develop the team as well as best maintenance practices. He/she will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

  • Ensure that policies and procedures are in accordance with the Nunavut Mine Act and that they are applied;
  • Ensure the application and the evolution of the supervision formula;
  • Coordinate and manage electrical projects and shutdown on site;
  • Evaluate mid & long term work to prioritize jobs and ensure alignment with the business plan;
  • Identify optimization opportunities and participate in improvement initiatives;
  • Support the implementation of health & safety best practices (LOTO, Arc Flash etc.);
  • Support the team in identifying and resolving efficiency issues, roadblocks and bottlenecks;
  • Ensure that equipment availability meets or exceeds production requirements;
  • Support the supervisor in the identification of targets and budget needs;
  • Supervise engineering team in defining long-term plans and technology implementation timelines;
  • Support in the deployment of automation initiatives;
  • Support and apply documentation control processes;
  • Develop and support the team through coaching and training;
  • Fill in for the Electrical General Supervisor as required.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
  • Diploma or degree in the electrical field (red seal certification an asset);
  • 5-6 years of experience in the electrical field in a mining or heavy duty industry, with solid experience in project management;
  • Solid understanding of maintenance processes, construction standards, preventative maintenance & reliability;
  • Automation knowledge is an asset;
  • Strong leadership and coaching abilities, interpersonal and teamwork skills, and client and results-orientation;
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills;
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision;
  • Ability to work under pressure;
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment;
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications;
  • Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (Oral and written). Selected candidates must attain a passing mark on an English language assessment.
Your Work Schedule
  • Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest; flights departing from all communities in the Kivalliq region, Mirabel or Val-d’Or, Quebec.
