· Assisting the dentist or hygienist during a variety of treatment procedures· Taking and developing dental radiographs· Asking about the patient’s medical history and taking weight and height· Preparing and sterilizing instruments and equipment· Helping patients feel comfortable before, during and after dental treatment· Dental hygiene procedures as permitted by College of Dental Assistants of Alberta (e.g., dental prophylaxis, fluoride application)· Providing patients with instructions for oral care following treatment procedures; · Teaching patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health (e.g., toothbrushing, flossing and nutritional counseling)· Taking impressions of patients’ teeth for lab procedures· Performing office management tasks that often require the use of a computer· Communicating with patients and parents and assisting with and helping to provide direct patient care in the dentist’s pediatric dental practice· Any additional duties as permitted and regulated by the College of Dental Assistants of Alberta.Job Types: Part-time, PermanentPart-time hours: 24 per weekSalary: $30.00-$34.00 per hourBenefits:
