Job Description

Position OverviewSecure Energy is currently looking for a Material Handler for our Blackfalds Blending Facility.The Material Handler is responsible for participating in the shipping and receiving operations of the yard, which includes loading/unloading trucks, managing inventory control processes and quality control of outgoing/returning materials.Key ResponsibilitiesThe responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:Pails, Drums and Totes:

  • Attend ‘tool box” morning meeting to be familiar with what products are arriving
  • Inspect lift truck daily i.e.; oil levels, tires, hoses, horn
  • After receiving products ensure packing list matches what was unloaded
  • Ensure paperwork is delivered to head shipper/receiver
  • Stock product in required areas
  • Pick out going orders and stage for loading. Relabel and or ensure all labels are correct
  • Load outbound trucks and ensure documentation and placarding are correct before releasing truck
  • Contact shipper/ receiver to alert him to sign out driver
  • Assist batch operators with material movements in and out of the blend room
  • Keep yard tidy and free from debris
Bulk Operations:
  • Ensure tank has enough fill space before off loading
  • Obtain sample and have QC completed and ensure it meets spec.
  • Unlock header rack and ensure hose is connected to proper line
  • Observe off load to ensure no spills or releases
  • Lock header rack and alert shipper/receiver that truck has been released
Qualifications and Education RequirementsThe successful candidate will have:
  • High School Diploma GED or equivalent
  • Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures
  • Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
  • Intermediate computer skills to successfully utilize intranet resources, complete online safety orientation, and HR onboarding tasks
  • Valid Safety Tickets (H2S, First Aid)
  • Physically fit, able to lift 50 pounds, and able to work on feet for long periods of time
  • Can work well as a team member or independently with little direction
  • Ability to readily determine the correct tools and equipment needed to do a job
  • Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule
