Job Description

Your Opportunity:Are you a Sonographer looking for an opportunity to work to your full scope of practice in a dynamic and expanding department The sonographer is a valued member of the Cardiac Sciences team and responsible for providing and performing the highest quality service possible, to the clients of the RDRH Cardiac Diagnostic Imaging department. This is done in a safe, collaborative, effective, and efficient manner. As a member of the Cardiac Sciences team this casual position is responsible for working all shifts as assigned. You will report to the Unit Manager for Diagnostic Cardiology working within the Diagnostic Cardiology department at Red Deer Regional Hospital. You will demonstrate your expertise within the interdisciplinary team to support an integrated and holistic approach to client care, health promotion and maintenance, while utilizing best practice, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills. You will provide safe, quality client-and family-centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. Red Deer is Albertas third largest city with a population of 100,418 and is located along the QEII Highway between Calgary and Edmonton. Some of the amenities within the city of Red Deer include the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame and Museum, as well as, the Sunnybrook Farm Museum, Fort Normandeau, the Kerry Wood Nature Centre, and the Red Deer Museum and Art Gallery. There are also several multi-use recreational centers including the Callicutt Centre , G.H. Dawe Community Centre and Michener Aquatic Centre, great for families of all ages.Description:As a Diagnostic Sonographer I, you will perform a variety of standardized and complex ultrasound services for the diagnosis and tracking of disease and pathology. Your responsibilities include preparing the patient for examination, reviewing patient history, explaining procedures, obtaining ultrasound images of diagnostic quality, and takes initial action to resolve abnormal findings. You will assist with diagnosis, clinical intervention and patient management all while ensuring a high level of patient care and safety. Your work may include assisting Radiologists and Cardiologists, Perinatologists and other medical staff with special procedures where required.

Required Qualifications:Completion of extended diploma from an accredited ultrasound program or completion of certification in Diagnostic Sonography from an accredited program. Active or eligible for registration with Sonography Canada and/or Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic & Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT and/or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).Additional Required Qualifications:American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) registration may be considered for designations not offered by Sonography Canada.Preferred Qualifications:Computer skills - Microsoft Office, Word, PowerPoint, Excel. Familiar with lntellispace and Philips Epiq ECHO platform, Cardiology PACS. ARDMS Pediatric Echo certification desired.Quick Apply
