Job Description

A HOTEL WITH THE FREEDOM OF STYLE!*_Located in the heart of Central Alberta, the CAMBRIDGE HOTEL & CONFERENCE CENTRE *****red deer is the ideal place to grow your career in hospitality while providing excellent and personalized service to our guests while working within a positive team environment._*Under the guidance of the Liquor Store Manager, the Liquor Store Supervisor will assist in providing excellent store operations management and ensure revenue targets are being met while promoting customer satisfaction. The Liquor Store Supervisor provides direction and supervision to the Liquor Store Clerks. The Liquor Store Supervisor is expected to ensure smooth operations within the store. This position also processes and delivers outside vendor orders as required.Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee and assist in scheduling staff work hours, keeping within budgetary restraints.
  • Processing of payroll when the Manager is not available.
  • Supervise the department staff; assist in interviewing, hiring and training new employees.
  • Liaise with other departments to ensure communication and positive relations.
  • Ensure safe working conditions; follow and promote all health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Assist the Manager in achieving all key financial objectives.
  • Greet customers upon entering the store, in a friendly and positive nature, assist with product selections and location of products in the store, and help customers with carry-outs if needed.
  • Perform required ID checks on customers and notifies management of violations, concerns, etc.
  • Demonstrate an innovative and entrepreneurial approach by responding to the unique characteristics of the market.
  • In consultation with the Manager, implement comprehensive local marketing programs to maximize customer trial and awareness while encouraging repeat visits.
  • Build team commitment to high service standards, exceeding customer expectations and leading by example.
  • Maintain all equipment, resolving technical problems immediately, or if unable, report immediately so rectification can occur.
  • Monitor inventories, security standards and systems, equipment, and merchandise flow.
  • Responsible for all financial activities, including reconciliation and daily bank deposits on a rotational basis with the management team, cash balancing, and the accurate monitoring of cash handling procedures.
  • Complete all liquor orders and transfers while maintaining timelines.
  • Invoicing and accurate monitoring and tracking of liquor transfer between the Liquor Store and hotel outlets.
  • Unpacking and recording of all liquor purchases, including proper and safe stocking, lifting, sorting, and processing.
  • Maintain a professional appearance, demeanour, and attitude at all times; Adhere to the dress code, for Liquor store Associates, including nametag.
  • Drive company vehicles in accordance with safe handling processes and procedures to outside vendor locations and deliver requested alcoholic beverage orders carefully.
  • Performs weekly checks on the delivery van, such as oil, tire pressure, windshield washer fluid and fuel level.
  • Performance of all associate duties.
  • Performs other duties, as assigned, to meet business needs.
*Education, Qualification and Requirements*
  • 3 years of related experience in a supervisory or management capacity, retail preferred.
  • Liquor retail experience with strong product knowledge of provincial regulations
  • 1 to 2-year Degree or Diploma; related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of the City of Red Deer and locations within the city is an asset;
  • Must have Class 5 driver’s license and clean driver abstract;
  • Solid understanding of computers, the Internet, and Microsoft Office, and can adapt to new technologies
  • Well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution and people management skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure with a positive attitude and strong selling skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of wines, beer, and spirits.
  • Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering, as well as inventory control of these items.
  • Upto Date ProServe, ProTect and WHMIS are required. First Aid/CPR is an asset.
  • Ability to train staff and help them to continue to improve and develop their skills
  • Must be fluent in English, both written and oral
  • Ability to work various shifts, including weekends, holidays, evenings etc.
  • Clear security and criminal record check required upon hire
*Work Environment*
  • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time
  • Ability to tolerate exposures to heat, cold and water
  • Must be able to transport up to 50 pounds occasionally, and up to 35 pounds regularly.
  • Overtime as required.
Hours of Work
  • The hours of work for this position will vary depending on operational requirements but will include day, evening, holiday, and weekend shifts.
