Sturgeon Public School Division is currently recruiting for two (2) Full-Time Permanent Educational Assistant 3 for a work assignment at Redwater School, located in Redwater, AB. This assignment is subject to change based on operational requirements.Redwater School offers a unique small town environment and serves approximately 300 students from grades 5-12. Approximately 25 staff work together as a team to provide exemplary education for all students.Hours: 1.0 FTE; Full-Time Permanent; working 6.5 hrs/dayInitial Assignment: This assignment is in the Growth Opportunity and Life Skills (GOALS) program. Under the direction of the classroom teacher, the Educational Assistant will be working with students with complex needs and disabilities.Qualifications & Experience: Educational Assistant or Early Childhood Diploma or Certificate is required, complemented with two years’ experience working with students with challenging behaviours and applying positive behaviour supports; and formal training in areas such as autism or behaviours. CPR, First Aid and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training is required. Knowledge and experience with special needs and Autism is required. Equivalencies that consist of a combination of education and a minimum of 5 years’ related experience working as an EA2 in a school environment with students with challenging behaviours may be considered.Hourly Rate: $19.79 - $24.54 per hour, as per the CUPE Collective Agreement.Should a qualified candidate not be identified, candidates with lesser qualifications could be considered at a lower classification.Please note that all new employees to Sturgeon School Division are required to submit a recent (within 6 months), clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector (from your local RCMP) included prior to commencement of employment.
