Job Description

Job descriptionPlease read the full job description before applying.The candidate must have a minimum of 5 years industrial field experience.Must have training and certification in incident investigation training in TapRoot, SCAT - DNV, and experience.A minimum certification of NCSO with enrollment or completion in an approved OHS program of studies.Drug & Alcohol testing required.Must have minimum of a class #5.Transportation is required, there is no public transportation.We are not accepting sub contracting opportunities at this time so please do not apply if you are looking to sub contract.Must be proficient in using a computer and Microsoft applications.Must be proficient in speaking, reading and writing English.Essential Functions / Responsibilities:

  • Comply with all occupational health and safety (OHS) guidelines
  • Inspect work sites and review working conditions.
  • Document reports of occurrences and record statistical information.
  • Develop and implement OHS training programs
  • Instruct OHS safety programs
  • Maintain safety regulations.
  • Ensure statutes, regulations, and codes are clearly understood and met.
  • Intervene to stop any acts or processes which are unsafe or do not comply with OHS guidelines
  • Implement preventative measures to ensure unsafe processes are not repeated.
  • Ensure all personnel follow all personal safety precautions (hardhats, protective goggles, etc.)
  • Update procedures and policies for new regulations or local ordinances
  • Ensure a safe work environment, by monitoring compliance
  • Ensure you are current on legislation and industry practices.
  • Verify monthly supervisors updates.
  • Complete and send off weekly reports
  • Compile monthly KPI reporting.
  • Identify, report and correct identified trends.
  • Maintain a positive relationship with customers, workers, and team
  • Identify trends from reporting, investigation, and inspections.
  • Verify training and expirations.
  • Responsibility of the safety committee team and its requirements.
  • Update program as required.
  • Perform investigations.
  • Ensure all corrective actions are in progress and/or completed.
  • Develop JSA’s, procedures, safety plan and policies as needed.
  • Update and make corrections per legislation and site requirements at a minimum of yearly. .
  • Resolve safety complaints and implement corrective action.
  • Work with supervisors to create project safety plans.
  • Ensure that all safety inspections are conducted.
  • Perform other site visits with supervisors.
  • Perform weekly competency evaluations – minimum one per week.
  • Perform audits; be aware of requirements and dates and items needed.
  • Create weekly toolbox meetings for supervisors. (Select appropriate topic)
  • Prepare minutes for safety meetings.
  • Ensure all safety paperwork has been completed. Review and sign off on safety documentation.
  • Ensure corrective action is completed on near misses and hazards ID’s.
  • Ensure inventory of safety supplies and order as required.
  • Send out fore extinguishers for service (yearly).
  • Review and update safety manual – minimum once per year.
  • Review and update emergency response plans
  • Post current and necessary safety documentation.
  • Book D&A, respirator testing for employees.
  • Check orientation dates, send orientations.
  • Perform field observations and ensure health, safety and environment requirements are adhered to.
  • Monitor and follow up on modified workers in the field.
  • Follow up with workers who have not completed their training
  • Ensure new hires and returning employees have provided all necessary documentation.
