The Ministry fosters and supports a competitive business environment, facilitates export development, and strengthens Saskatchewan’s international relations.The OpportunityThe Ministry of Trade and Export Development is seeking a highly motivated, efficient, and well-organized professional for the role of Administrative Assistant.Reporting to the Senior Executive Administrative Assistant, the Administrative Assistant will:

  • Provide administrative support to the Deputy Ministers Office;
  • provide and carry out a wide range of office administrative duties such as: process invoices using Markview; monitor, track and reconcile expenditures; process mail; purchase office supplies; order computer software and equipment; order and update mobile devices; and coordinate travel and meetings;
  • respond to incoming inquiries; and
  • assist in preparing materials for events and provincial/international missions. (No travel required.)
To be successful in this role you will have:
  • extensive knowledge of office management and administrative practices, procedures and protocols in a public sector setting;
  • knowledge of Government structure, protocol and procedures;
  • knowledge of Government purchasing and payment practices (i.e. Financial Administration Manual);
  • the ability to review and accurately format a variety of documents (letters, briefing notes, reports, etc.) using correct grammar, spelling and punctuation in a timely manner;
  • excellent computer skills in a variety of software programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, Midas, Taleo);
  • the ability to communicate clearly, concisely and with confidence, both verbally and in writing, with Ministry officials, senior officials from other organizations, clients and colleagues, to obtain and provide information and explain policies and procedures; and
  • be attentive to detail and have excellent organizational skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to listen, accurately comprehend and orally respond to inquiries from other agencies, staff, ministries, and the public to obtain, exchange, coordinate, evaluate or confirm information in an accurate, concise and courteous manner.
