The Commission provides leadership and policy direction to all ministries to enable a high-performing and innovative professional public service. The Commission works with ministries to ensure effective workforce management by supporting delivery of foundational services such as staffing and classification, and strategic support including labour relations and organizational development. Our mission is to ensure the Government of Saskatchewan has the workforce required to successfully deliver on priorities in order to meet the needs of citizens through our Business Partner service delivery model.The OpportunityThe Public Service Commission is seeking a visionary, outcome focused and inclusive leader for the role of Assistant Chair, Human Resource Business Partner Division.Reporting directly to the Chair, this position:

  • Provides management oversight to teams of human resource professionals in the consultation and delivery of a full range of human resource services to government ministry executive and their employees.
  • Participates as a member of the Ministry executive team by contributing to program and policy development, strategic planning, and implementation of Ministry initiatives.
  • Works in a strategic partnership with senior leaders across the service to ensure the government-wide human resource strategies align with government direction and that human resource practices meet the needs of the organization and clients.
  • Provides leadership to the Government of Saskatchewan’s corporate priorities which may include the Inclusion, Safety and/or Culture Champion role(s).
Ideal CandidateThis opportunity is for an experienced senior executive with exceptional collaboration and demonstrated leadership skills. You will have:
  • Knowledge and appreciation for the strategic management of complex human resource strategies and programs within a public sector environment, preferably with a Human Resource professional designation.
  • A leadership style focused on inclusion, excellence, accountability and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Extensive senior leadership experience in a public sector environment with the proven capability to identify and provide key strategic insights, counsel and recommendations to senior leaders.
  • Knowledge and experience with government decision making processes.
  • A strong client service orientation and demonstrated success in leading transformational change and transition strategies.
  • A solid track record building and maintaining credible, collaborative relationships across the public service and working together with other senior leaders to meet organization and citizen needs.
  • Superior analytical and execution skills, combined with clear proficiency in evaluating issues, offering alternatives and creating solutions.
  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills and the ability to work with, and influence, a variety of stakeholders.
