CUPE 5791 Job Family N/A Category Academic Number of Vacancies 1 Position SummaryThe Department of Biology at the University of Regina invites applications for a full-time, 3-year term position in Microbiology. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor or Lecturer, commensurate with qualifications, with an expected start date of July 1, 2022.Candidates with an academic focus on any aspect of microbiology are invited to apply, with preference given to those specializing in microbial ecology or environmental microbiology.The successful candidate will be committed to teaching excellence at the undergraduate levels. The candidate will receive mentoring in course development and delivery along with opportunities for formal training provided by the UofR Centre for Teaching and Learning. The candidate will be expected to teach Microbial Diversity and Cell Function (Biol 310), Microbes and Society (Biol 223), and lecture and/or lab courses related to their areas of expertise. The position includes full membership in the Institute for Microbial Systems and Society, opportunities to mentor undergraduate and graduate students, and access to research infrastructure in the Institute of Environmental Change and Society as well as the newly established Cold-Region Water Resource Recovery Laboratory. The Department of Biology is a vibrant community of undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and faculty members with a strength in microbiology.Position RequirementsThe successful candidate must have a Ph.D. degree in Biology or a related discipline, or will complete the Ph.D. within 12 months at the time of appointment. Candidates are expected to demonstrate strong communication skills and a commitment to working effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures. Teaching experience of introductory or advanced lectures or laboratory courses in microbiology are assets.Physical Demands Pay Grade Faculty Lecturer Salary Range Per Collective Agreement.
