Overtime as requiredReporting to the News Director, and with the guidance of the Managing Editor, the successful candidate will execute on the following:Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the look, production and editorial direction for CTV News at Noon, 5 & 6.
  • Take part in preparation and production all news specials
  • Initiate ideas for stories and coverage, including the integration of content on-air, on-line, and through social media
  • Monitor feeds and servers for content
  • Write news scripts, intros and all show elements
  • Prepare and supervise graphic elements
  • Supervise and vet reporter and web scripts when required
  • Take live events to air
  • Other related duties as assigned, which may include but aren’t limited to; various shifts and/or producing other newscasts
Qualifications:
  • 2 – 3 years’ experience as a newsroom show producer preferred, including live control room experience.
  • Degree or diploma from an accredited post-secondary broadcast program or related television news experience
  • Proven editorial news judgment with high journalistic standards
  • Proven ability to prioritize and meet deadlines of several simultaneous duties, while maintaining focus and composure
  • Solid understanding of broadcast law
  • Ability to lead a team and motivate staff
  • Superior communication skills, creative and progressive writing skills
  • In depth knowledge of and interest in news and current affairs
