Job Description

Business and Data Analyst, Digital Practice - ( 220003TR )DescriptionThe Business & Data Analyst assesses existing design, business, and technical data conducting full lifecycle analysis to adapt and developing new information reporting capabilities and to monitor performance, progress and quality informing future process and solutions. The business & data analyst works with clients (practitioners, internal and external project teams), understanding the unique needs of the AE industry, to identify opportunities, define requirements and work with Buildings Digital Practice and various Functional Service Teams to inform future opportunities.General Position Summary/Job Scope

  • Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide reporting to drive business solutions
  • Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality. Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and work with the Buildings Digital Practice team to maintain databases/data systems
  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
  • Filter and “clean” data by reviewing computer reports, printouts, and performance indicators to locate and correct code problems
  • Locate and define new process improvement opportunities
  • Conduct business analysis/analytics, data architecture, and develop process to derive insight and strategy from output
  • Quickly establish trust and build relationships with clients, as well as internal and external partners.
  • Collaborate with Digital Practice peers, engineering, and product development teams to ensure high quality service delivery and ongoing support of our practitioners in the execution of Buildings core business.
  • Effectively leverage new and emergent technologies in support of Buildings practice and innovation efforts.
Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities
  • Build complex statistical models that predict behavior and improve over time with additional data and learnings.
  • Collect, validate, and maintain data from internal and external sources
  • Analyze data sets as appropriate for reporting and analytics using business intelligence tools to drive business optimization and improvement, and identify patterns and trends
  • Provide routine and ad hoc data reports and models using visualization and statistics to understand and solve business problems
  • Work with external project teams to establish and lead a data driven approach to large master planning projects for client’s unique strategic growth projections
  • Identify the data-analytics problems that offer the greatest opportunities to the organization
  • Troubleshoot issues as they arise and solve problems independently or collaboratively with other teammates
  • Perform thorough review of data products and processes for content and accuracy and identify associated problems
  • Work with stakeholders and team to understand and business questions and problems and to scope data and reporting requests
  • Prepare documentation on all projects to enable peer review and ensure continuity of data product quality
  • Work with the Buildings Digital Practice Service and Development teams to plan the architecture and support utilization of Buildings data for reference, analysis, and general or project specific consumption.
  • Stay informed of changes in the marketplace to software and technology updates as it relates to Buildings business and practice.
  • Coordinate and deliver client business reviews and project strategy consult as needed to ensure business health and success.
  • Research and evaluate existing delivery workflows, tools, standards and content for data structure and potential for data visualization. Identify commonalities, and compile/create a core set of innovative project delivery activities that increase efficiency and improve quality for all.
  • Ensures communications and processes with internal and external clients are consistent across the entire team and are aligned with Buildings Digital Practice initiatives
  • Participates in data architecture evolution and standards development
  • Fosters and maintains good relationships with internal clients and colleagues
QualificationsKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining, segmentation, and visualization techniques
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Project management, lean process improvement / six sigma qualifications or experience beneficial
  • Outstanding organizational and problem-solving aptitude
  • Expert in predictive modeling using both supervised and unsupervised learning techniques.
  • Knowledge of and experience with reporting packages (Business Objects etc), databases (SQL etc), programming (XML, Javascript, Python, etc) preferred
  • Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (Excel, SPSS, SAS etc) preferredAdept at queries, report writing and presenting findings
  • Knowledge of the unique technology needs of the Buildings Architectural and Engineering (A/E) practice
  • Knowledge of computer-aided drafting, BIM, quality assurance, project management, and design applications specific to the A/E industry.
  • Expert level Microsoft product user; Microsoft 365 Suite including Visio and Project
  • Functional knowledge of recent versions of Autodesk products: AutoCAD, Revit, BIM 360 at a minimum, and other common industry products: Bluebeam and Newforma.
