The cost of any required COVID-19 testing is the responsibility of the employee.Close Date: January 4, 2022The Business Intelligence Analyst contributes to the success of ISM’s Analytics and Data Services team. This team assists businesses from all sectors with using data to improve product development, customer service and outcomes, and to enhance business growth and development.The Business Intelligence Analyst provides a key role in the delivery of ISM Canada’s Analytics service(s). This position will provide thought leadership to, and work directly with customers in addition to working closely with ISM team members.Responsibilities:

  • Use of Microsoft BI facilities such as Power BI, SSRS, SSIS and Azure data pipelines to visualize business data in support of client’s business problems
  • Developing clients BI reporting environments supporting separation of duties, governance and security
  • Use of the IBM Cognos Business Intelligence stack including Report Studio, Query Studio, Workspace Advanced and Framework Manager will be considered an advantage
  • Assist with the installation and administration of BI and data toolsets
  • Involvement with Data Warehouse design and development
  • Learn & implement best practice ETL theory through ETL Development and ETL application support
  • Implement data conversion, validation and cleansing strategies
  • Use of data oriented programming language (including Python, T-SQL, PL/SQL) and working directly with a wide variety of Database types
  • Work with Business Analysts to understand and translate business needs to identifiable source data systems
  • Work with the Application Development team to implement data strategies, build and document data flows from source systems to target Data Warehouse(s)
  • Implement Logical and Physical data models
  • Analyze data-related system integration challenges and propose appropriate solutions
  • Must be detail oriented, have the ability to work in a deadline oriented environment, regularly meet/exceed service level agreement requirements, and provide excellent customer service
  • Adhere to strict privacy and security governance policies
  • Educate and train clients and/or ISM employees on services, products, or analytical findings
  • Collaborate with ISM Analytics team members
  • Help develop and grow Analytics Services at ISM
Qualifications:
  • University Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Processing, or an equivalent combination of education, experience and training
  • Three or more years of professional-level experience with business intelligence software, database/data warehouse software, and computer programming
  • Contributing individually or as part of a team to manage business intelligence projects
  • Good knowledge of computer fundamentals including computer environments and operating systems; compile and execution functions; data structures, formats and storage media; and programming languages
  • Good knowledge of structured analysis, design and programming techniques and demonstrated ability to follow structured design and analyst disciplines
  • Good organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to set and achieve more than one concurrent objective reliably
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Ability and initiative to learn and use new techniques, products and systems
  • Ability to work productively and demonstrate leadership in a team environment
  • Good interpersonal skills including a mature and professional attitude demonstrated to clients and employees
Key Skills & Abilities:
  • Experience with data pipelines and data visualizations required
  • Strong self-learner and demonstrated problem determination and resolution skills
  • Strong ability to finish assigned tasks within a scheduled time period
  • Business Intelligence report development
  • Demonstrated knowledge of systems management disciplines
  • Experience in design, development and implementation, collecting data and translating it for use in computer applications, i.e. for data warehousing, data conversions
  • Experience in Data Warehouse concepts and skills
  • Experience with ETL Tools like DataStage, Informatica, SSIS, Azure Data Factory, and Business Objects Data Integrator
  • Strong experience with SQL scripting skills
  • A good understanding of logical and physical relational database design
  • Good application development skills
  • Good understanding of Unix/Linux/Windows operating system concepts
  • Good Unix command language and shell scripting skills
  • Some knowledge of application servers and their use in a database-centric environment
  • Experience with ITIL will be considered an asset
