Job Description

This position is located in Regina SK. The Buyer will oversee the acquisition of materials needed for production and ensures an optimum level of inventory is maintained through planning and forecasting demand in conjunction with production, sales teams and executive. Buying duties will also include our sister company, Morris Equipment Ltd.Job Duties

  • Seek reliable vendors and negotiate prices
  • Sourcing, negotiation & contracting to fulfill day-to-day business needs
  • Place purchase orders ensuring flow of inventory that guarantees optimum stock levels and meets turnover goals.
  • Evaluate cost and quality of goods or services
  • Analyze inventory needs by working with production and R&D departments
  • Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products, or substitute materials
  • Establish delivery schedules, monitor progress, and contact suppliers to resolve issues.
  • Maintain an extensive database for all orders that is up to date and provides information for analysis and reporting
  • Stay current with internal and external factors impacting procurement function
  • Advise departments and business units of lead time required to obtain products or services.
  • Make alternate arrangements in the event of shortages or delayed deliveries to minimize impact on the organization.
  • Adhere to all policies and follow established procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards for cost control, waste reduction, product quality, and safety standards
Requirements
  • High school diploma plus a two-year diploma program, or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
  • Five years of direct work experience in a progressively responsible buying position. Preference with experience in ag manufacturing, manufacturing, or steel procurement
  • Superior negotiation skills
  • Strong Computer Skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Good financial and business awareness.
  • Strong written and verbal skills to communicate with all levels of the organization and its executive team.

  • Transportation of Hazardous Goods
  • WHMIS training
Working Conditions
  • Regular light physical effort (bending, reaching, carrying light items, walking, standing)
  • Occasional heavy physical effort (carrying, lifting or pushing heavy items)
  • Regular visual effort required for concentrated reading of documentation or close monitoring of computer monitors
  • Regularly deals with simultaneous multiple demands which must be attended to immediately
  • Regular work requiring attention to detail, subject to frequent interruptions that require immediate attention
  • Regular peak periods requiring an accelerated work pace over which there is little control
