Data Analyst - INF003416Employment Type: Permanent Full-timeLocation(s): SK-Rgna-ReginaMinistry: 023 Energy and ResourcesSalary Range: $35.757-$43.530 HourlySalary Supplement: included in hourly salary range (in-scope)Grade: SGEU.09.The Ministry of Energy and Resources has an opportunity for an energetic, motivated and results oriented Data Analyst in the Lands and Mineral Tenure Branch. Working in the Geomatics and Business Systems group, the successful candidate will design and implement the data related elements of technology solutions, including data models, physical database designs, and meta-data management. You will analyze abstract, complex problems and effectively communicate with stakeholders regarding data design, usage, and management to provide project and operations support.You will be responsible for supporting all Microsoft Access databases used within the branch for managing data related to mineral dispositions, Treaty Land Entitlement land claims, lands subject to mineral trusts, mineral production statistics, and subsurface public offerings, among others. You will work with other members of the team to develop plans to migrate these workgroup databases into the Ministry’s Integrated Resource Information System (IRIS). You will gather requirements from various user groups, develop logical data models and system design documents, develop prototype database systems and present them to users for feedback. You will work with other members of the team to incorporate GIS functionality into the system to capture and store geospatial data related to the land-based features being managed within the system. You will coordinate user acceptance testing, prepare user guides and deliver training sessions to end users.You will become the branch’s primary expert in the use of Cognos for querying and reporting on petroleum and mineral production data from IRIS, and will educate others on the use of Cognos. You will also provide backup support for certain GIS tasks, including analyzing data and preparing maps using tools such as ArcGIS.Typically, the knowledge and skills required for this position would be acquired through completion of a degree in Computer Science or a related field and/or several years of demonstrated, related work experience. Advanced Microsoft Access skills are required.
