Our organization plays an important role in providing IT services to patients, healthcare providers, the Ministry of Health and the Saskatchewan Health Authority. eHealth teams engage directly with health system partners and other stakeholders both provincially and federally to ensure all services are delivered efficiently and effectively.A large and complex organization, eHealth is comprised of 30+ clinical and non-clinical program (service) areas that all work together to support health care providers and teams across the province in delivering the best possible care to patients, providers, citizens, and health system users. Programs range from primary care to acute care, and includes laboratories, pharmaceuticals and diagnostics. Additional programs that also support patient care and information, include Virtual Care, the MySaskHealthRecord, and the Provincial Electronic Health Record. eHealth is also responsible for the administration of various pieces of legislation to manage the registration of/changes to all vital event records (e.g. birth, marriage, death, etc.), registration of legal name changes, registration of adoptions, and for maintaining the provincial health registry for health services eligibility and distribution of health services cards.The eHealth teams engage directly with health system partners and other stakeholders both provincially and federally to ensure all services are delivered efficiently and effectively.Database Administrator RoleThe ideal candidate will have extensive experience as a SQL Server database administrator with some knowledge of Oracle databases while working with large-scale, massively concurrent, highly available distributed systems. You will be working with a group of highly skilled DBAs and application support analysts. Your focus will be on the health of the SQL Server databases of our entire application stack through the lifecycle of the system. You will be an expert in designing, building and maintaining databases – both for applications built in house as also for applications purchased off the shelf from vendors. Knowledge of UNIX as an operating system is essential for this position.You will be responsible for configuring and monitoring interfaces with other systems, maintain systems, user databases, instances, schemas, table spaces, tables, indexes, buffer pools, and logs, and managing system and database user IDs, group permissions, backups, recoveries and providing expertise related to DB performance, high availability, and scalability. You will play an important role in data migrations between systems including data refreshes. You will also be responsible for planning, installation, and maintenance of DBMS software in standalone and cluster environments, database automation through stored procedures and scripting. You will proactively gauge the performance of the application and database and provide recommendations to achieve the optimal architecture. You will also proactively assess and evaluate scalability of the databases and make appropriate recommendations. You will be directly responsible for maintaining the integrity of our databases and thereby or mission critical applications that serve the health sector in the province of Saskatchewan. You will be part of the incident resolution process and thus will need to be a part of the on call rotation that provides 24 x 7 DBA support. Furthermore, the successful candidate will also have extensive working knowledge, understanding and possible certification in:
