Environmental Inspector (Pipelines)This position can be based out of any of Triton’s offices. Successful candidates will be part of a team building world class projects that balance environmental protection with development. Responsibilities include:Environmental inspection of pipeline construction and integrity dig projectsMonitor compliance with applicable environmental requirements and commitments relevant to pipeline construction and operationsAdvise construction personnel on major decisions such as weather shutdowns or courses of action to deal with unexpected environmental conditionsAct as a liaison with local, provincial, and federal regulatory agenciesMonitor the implementation of Environmental Protection Plans (EPP) and Environmental Management Plans (EMP) during construction activitiesRecommend best practices and mitigation measures to manage environmental concerns during constructionMonitor topsoil stripping, topsoil replacement, and seedingRecommend erosion and sediment control measures and monitor installationOversee watercourse or waterbody crossings, ensuring compliance with project requirements and regulatory conditionsConduct water quality sampling and turbidity monitoring during dewatering and waterbody crossing activitiesMonitor water diversions and withdrawalsConduct wildlife surveys, migratory and breeding bird/nest surveys, and amphibian salvagesPerform equipment inspections for fluid leaks and assist with spill prevention and responseMonitor environmental aspects of other pipeline activities such as hydrostatic test dewatering, hydrovac operations and horizontal directional drilling (HDD) waste management ensuring adherence to various regulatory requirementsPrepare daily inspection reports, environmental summaries, and environmental post-construction reportsAttend project and safety meetingsSKILLS & QUALIFICATIONSB.Sc. or technical diploma in biology, forestry, agriculture, environmental science, or related similarRelevant professional designation is an asset (e.g., RPBio, P.Biol, P.Ag)Pipeline construction knowledge and experienceThorough understanding of applicable provincial and federal environmental legislation, regulations, and policies to ensure project-specific complianceExperience conducting fish salvages, water quality monitoring, pre-construction bird and nest surveys, and amphibian salvagesAdept in the operation and maintenance of required field equipmentAbility to identify and mitigate issues rapidly to ensure compliance within an active construction work environmentStrong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilitiesAble to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with clients, contractors, agencies, and co-workersProven ability to work independently with minimal supervisionAble to do shift work out of townPhysically fit and able to work in all weather conditionsValid drivers license from a Canadian province or Territory acceptable for driving alone and with passengers in a work settingHOW TO APPLYIf this opportunity sounds like you, and you are serious about joining a progressive team of environmental consultants, please apply with a resume and cover letter.Closing Date: February 28, 2023 (Will be extended as required)Website: www.triton-env.comWe thank all applicants for their interest.Please note that only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
