Job Description

Eden Care Communities is a vibrant, growing not-for-profit housing and care provider for Long Term Care, Personal Care and Group Homes. We oversee the operations of the Regina Lutheran Home, Broadway Terrace, Milton Heights, Saplings Early Learning Center, and Eden Care Health Programs located in Regina, Moose Jaw and Saskatoon. In all, we provide housing services and supportive care to approximately 1,000 residents.General Accountability:The Financial Services Assistant is accountable to the Chief Financial Officer of Eden Care Communities Management Inc. The incumbent is responsible for accounts payable for Eden Care Communities Management Inc. and all subsidiaries, and accounts receivable for Milton Heights Inc. and some programs within Eden Care Health Inc. This is accomplished through the implementation of accounting procedures and managing deadlines at each location.RESPONSIBILITIES:Accounts Payable

  • Receive invoices
  • Receive proper authorisations
  • Attach purchase orders
  • Pay invoices in a timely manner
  • Provide accounts payable support for housing operations at each building
  • File invoices
  • Apply for WCB clearance
Accounts Receivable
  • Perform monthly invoicing, deposit preparation, delivery of deposits to the bank, and accounts receivable month-end balancing
  • Contact account holders of outstanding amounts
  • Process credit and/or debit card payments
  • Provide accounts receivable support for the housing operations and programs at each building
Accounting Support
  • Assist with payroll and benefits, when required by the job
  • Match invoices to purchase orders, clients, codes
  • Reconcile client/vendor account statements and handle inquiries
  • Prepare and distribute requisitions and cheques
  • Enter data for various financial transactions
  • Create new accounts as required
  • Follow up on unpaid accounts
General Office Duties
  • Perform clerical and reception duties
  • Provide administrative support when required
JOB KNOWLEDGE
  • Working knowledge of the Mission, Vision and goals of the organization, and the Eden Alternative Philosophy of Care™
  • Knowledge and ability to perform all accounts receivable and accounts payable functions
  • Knowledge of the importance of confidentiality and privacy laws
Mental Application
  • Ability to organize, pay attention to detail and multitask
  • Ability to work with and establish good relationships with Residents, Residents families, staff and other external agencies and organizations
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to deal with sensitive situations with tact and professionalism
  • Ability to conduct all business in a manner consistent with the Relationship Governance Model and Eden Alternative Philosophy of Care™
  • Ability to work under pressure, high stress and strict deadlines
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Accounting Diploma/Degree from a recognized post-secondary institution
  • Office Education Certificate
  • Two (2) years office experience
  • Accounts Receivable & Accounts Payable Experience
  • Sage 300
  • Typing Speed Required: 40+wpm
  • Bondable
  • Must have a valid Class 5 Driver’s License
