Job Description

Together, we are stronger and achieve more.Viterra is seeking an IT Application Specialist. The successful candidate will responsible for development and delivery of application code and associated documentation to support and enhance the overall operation of information technology systems. This position will assist in providing continuous support for process improvements within the organization.Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, code, verify, test, document, amend and refactor complex programs/scripts and integration software services, while ensuring that appropriate modelling techniques and agreed software design standards, patterns and methodology are followed.
  • Identify and resolve issues with applications and carry out agreed applications maintenance tasks.
  • Contribute to selection of the software development approach for projects, selecting appropriately from predictive or adaptive approaches.
  • Produce test scripts, materials, and regression test packs to test new and amended software or services.
  • Collaborate in reviews of work with others as appropriate.
  • Monitor and report on progress. Identify issues related to software development activities. Propose practical solutions to resolve issues.
  • Install or remove hardware and/or software, using supplied installation instructions and tools.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Knowledge of C# .NET, JavaScript, HTML, CSS and Oracle PL/SQL is required; working knowledge of Java or PowerBuilder is an asset.
  • Knowledge and understanding of information systems as well as application programming, database and system design.
  • Knowledge of the agricultural industry will be considered an asset.
Education and Qualifications:
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience in related Information Technology Systems.
  • Post-secondary degree in Computer Science, or Data Processing Diploma would be considered an asset.
