Our organization plays an important role in providing IT services to patients, healthcare providers, the Ministry of Health and the Saskatchewan Health Authority. eHealth teams engage directly with health system partners and other stakeholders both provincially and federally to ensure all services are delivered efficiently and effectively.About the RoleIT Test Analyst – eHealth Saskatchewan is seeking an experienced Information Technology (IT) Software Testing professional. This position will be responsible for coordinating and performing testing activities for patient-centric Information Technology (IT) applications that communicate with our integrated healthcare systems. To be successful in this competition, ideally you should have significant experience in the healthcare or similar industry as an experienced IT applications testing professional, and have proven abilities to adapt in new environments and deliver on fast-paced project timelines.As a seasoned IT professional, you are expected to deliver on your goals and targets with minimal supervision, develop an in-depth understanding of various products and applications that comprise the service offerings at current eHealth Saskatchewan within a reasonable timeframe, and be able to create custom testing strategies and plans using risk-based testing methodologies.Reporting to the Manager of IT Testing, you will closely work with a team of senior level IT Test Analysts and Automation specialists in estimating and planning various testing activities, defining and collecting metrics on testing processes, identifying process gaps, championing continuous improvements, and drawing up testing road maps for various products and applications. You will work hand-in-hand with seniors level Business Analysts and Project Managers from across the organization.A key to success in this role is building strong relationships, having a strong customer focus, a knack for solving complex problems, and making connections (knowing who to involve and when). To make that happen, you will possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills and thrive in a dynamic, complex technology driven environment. Within our environment, the situations you will encounter aren’t black and white, so you must be proficient in solving complex problems, delivering solutions, and enjoy ‘working within the gray’. Proven experience and skills in effective communication, problem solving, team work, client focus, documentation, and an appetite for continuous improvement are required.You will have knowledge of:

  • Software Development Life Cycle and Models
  • ITIL fundamentals and best practices
  • Computer hardware, architectural concepts, and Windows, Unix, and other operating systems
  • Different software development methodologies and concomitant testing strategies.
  • Basic principles of Computer systems design, development and configurations including concepts of relational databases
  • Information analysis techniques in problem diagnosis, researching, and understanding the language in technical documents
To qualify for this position, you should have experience in the following:
  • Experience in IT functional and/or non-functional testing;
  • Hands-on experience in using one or more of these tools: HP Load Runner, HP UFT, and HP ALM;
  • Experience in VB scripting, preferably on HP UFT;
  • Proficiency in using MS Office suite of products, e.g. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, in their latest versions;
  • Strong documentation skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to consistently produce deliverables of very high quality and deliver services of the highest standard;
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments at the same time, and a go-getter personality with high energy level.
The following experiences are not required, but any exposure would be considered a plus:
    o Automation testingo API testing; testing using jMeter and/or other open source test toolso Descriptive programming, particularly in VB
The knowledge and skills required for this position would be attained through the completion of a post-secondary Degree / Diploma in Computer Science, Business Information Systems or related area of study supplemented with 3 or more years’ experience in a similar role. An equivalent combination of experience, education and training would be considered. Any experience in an integrated IT/Health support environment would be considered a bonus.CompetenciesCommunication:

  • Ability to diagnose technical problems such as delays, malfunctions and errors in order to determine the true cause of the problem and provide a (workable/reasonable/optimal) solution in a reasonable time frame;
  • Ability to extract, recall, synthesize, conceptualize and apply ideas, processes and information to incorporate new technology and create new solutions in a constantly changing technological and business environment; and
  • Ability to identify and calmly respond to issues and concerns of others who may be angry or frustrated to reach a mutual understanding.

  • Ability to create, review, and articulate testing requirements, strategies, plans and alternatives, and explain complex post-testing reports to project teams, and answer their questions and provide clarifications; and
  • Ability to understand system guidelines, instruction manuals, license and support models, and liaise with the vendor support teams and internal support and technical personnel as necessary to maintain and break-fix various testing tools from time to time.
