FULL-TIME YEAR-ROUND EMPLOYMENTWest-Can Seal Coating Inc. (WCS) is a privately owned highway maintenance company specializing in pavement preservation and roadway construction across Western Canada for almost 40 years. Headquarters located in Didsbury, Alberta, WCS completes contracts across Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Manitoba for both public and private sectors.As one of the largest pavement preservation companies in Western Canada, WCS operates offices located in Saskatoon (Saskatchewan), Didsbury and Bruderheim (Alberta) and Brandon (Manitoba). These divisions provide services in Asphalt Milling, Pulverizing, Grading, various Pavement Preservation services along with Liquid Asphalt Manufacturing.WCS is seeking qualified candidates to join our team for the upcoming 2022 construction season to join us on the road as we complete projects across western Canada.WCS is always looking for good people. Day to Day Responsibilities:
  • Lead and mentor a crew of 10-25 drivers, operators, laborer’s and flag persons.
  • Instruct crew on daily activities and follow up to ensure quality and workmanship standards are met.
  • Meet production goals and run-times while maintaining a forward thinking mindset.
  • Complete production reports, material ordered and time logs daily with a high level of accuracy.
  • Keep a detailed record of daily events, communications, weather, delays, equipment issues, employee issues, etc.
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with customers, consultants, employees, suppliers, colleagues and management.
  • Develop field related policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment with a strict adherence to company equipment and fleet maintenance.
SAFETY:
  • Comply with WSC and Local OH&S regulations.
  • Monitor and enforce employee compliance with WCS and OH&S regulations.
  • Increase overall Health, Safety and Environmental awareness through pro-active approaches.
  • Hold regular tool-box talks and communicate companywide safety bulletins.
  • Ensure all incidents (near misses, property damage, injuries, environmental, lost time, etc.) are reported and related documentation filled out before the end of the shift.
SKILLS:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.
  • Able to work remotely and extended hours away from home in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Work with limited supervision.
  • Work under pressure while exercising sound judgment and a concern for safety.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Experience in a supervisory role.
  • Post secondary education in Business or Civil Engineering an asset.
  • Current Class 5 Driver’s License or better with a clean abstract.
  • Competent with Microsoft Office.
  • Operational knowledge of equipment and tools used for the job.
  • Experience with construction software (ex. Viewpoint or similar) considered an asset.
Job Type: Full-timeSalary: $25.00-$28.00 per hourAdditional pay:
  • Overtime pay
